Nokia PureView is the branding of a combination of technologies used in cameras of Nokia-branded smartphones, and previously, in phones by Microsoft Mobile. PureView was first introduced with Nokia 808 PureView.
PureView cameras have on-chip image processors that perform image scaling with oversampling, giving improved digital zoom, and reduced noise compared to a typical smartphone camera. Both are combined with xenon flash, a 1080p HD video camera, and high resolution Zeiss all-aspherical 1-group lenses. [1] Unlike the Nokia 808, the Nokia Lumia 1020 — along with other Lumia PureView smartphone cameras — possesses optical image stabilization, which became standard in Lumia PureView bundling. [2] The Nokia 808 does, however, compensate with its own exclusive camera-complementing media features, such as Micro HDMI TV-out, and built-in video editing. [3]
Following the acquisition of the Nokia Devices & Services division by Microsoft, the U.S. software company acquired the PureView name and trademark, but not the related imaging technology, which remained with Nokia, who, as a result, licensed it to Microsoft. [4]
Since Microsoft's ownership, the technology has only been used in their late-2015 flagship Lumia 950.
In late August 2018, HMD Global reportedly acquired [5] the ownership of the PureView trademark and related assets not under Nokia ownership. [6]
On 24 February 2019, HMD Global, the exclusive licensee of Nokia-branded phones, launched Nokia 9 PureView [7] at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
On 19 March 2020, HMD Global announced the Nokia 8.3 5G, which is said to feature a 64MP PureView Quad-Camera System with Carl Zeiss Optics. [8]
On 2 September 2022, the Nokia X30 5G [9] was announced with the PureView technology, but the ZEISS lens is absent due to HMD Global end's partnership with Carl Zeiss AG. The X30 features a 50 MP main sensor, which is the same as Samsung Galaxy S22.
At its initial debut with the Nokia 808 PureView, the PureView camera was acknowledged by critics as one of the most advanced smartphone cameras in the market. Critics also said it made devices bulky and heavy, and that the low resolution screen on the 808 PureView made appreciating the camera's capabilities much harder. [3] [10]
Nokia was given several awards for the release of its PureView camera, including the TIPA Best Imaging Innovation award in 2012. [11]

Nokia phones beta labs is a service in which beta software for Nokia smartphones are available for public download. The service was originally launched as Nokia Beta Labs in 2007 by Nokia for S60-based Symbian devices, and later for the company's Windows Phone-based Lumia line. After the sale of the Nokia mobile devices division to Microsoft, the website was renamed Lumia Beta Apps. It was discontinued in 2015. The service was revived by HMD Global in 2017 for Nokia Android smartphones, allowing members to test Android 8.0 Oreo beta.

Nokia Lumia 920 is a smartphone developed by Nokia that runs the Windows Phone 8 operating system. It was announced on September 5, 2012, and was first released on November 2, 2012. It has a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Krait CPU and a 4.5" IPS TFT LCD display, as well as a high-sensitivity capacitive touchscreen that can be used with gloves and fingernails; the display is covered by curved Gorilla Glass and has a 9 ms response time. The phone features an 8.7-megapixel PureView camera with OIS; it was the first smartphone camera to implement that technology, as well as to support Qi inductive charging. The phone comes with 32 GB of internal storage, but has no expandable storage.
Lumia imaging apps are imaging applications by Microsoft Mobile and formerly by Nokia for Lumia devices built on the technology of Scalado. The Lumia imaging applications were notably all branded with "Nokia" in front of their names, but after Microsoft acquired Nokia's devices and services business the Nokia branding was superseded with "Lumia", and often updates included nothing but name changes, but for the Lumia Camera this included a new wide range of feature additions. Most of the imaging applications are developed by the Microsoft Lund division. As part of the release of Windows 10 Mobile and the integration of Lumia imaging features into the Windows Camera and Microsoft Photos applications some of these applications stopped working in October 2015.

It improves on its predecessor, the Nokia 808, by coupling a 41-megapixel 2/3-inch BSI sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a high resolution f/2.2 all-aspherical 1-group Carl Zeiss lens. It was considered to be the most advanced cameraphone when released in September 2013.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 was a flagship Windows Phone phablet smartphone designed and produced by Finnish telecommunications manufacturer Nokia in partnership with American software manufacturer Microsoft. Microsoft Mobile Oy was a subsidiary of Microsoft involved in the development and manufacturing of mobile phones. Based in Espoo, Finland, it was established in 2014 following the acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services division by Microsoft in a deal valued at €5.4 billion, which was completed in April 2014. Nokia's then-CEO, Stephen Elop, joined Microsoft as president of its Devices division following the acquisition, and the acquisition was part of Steve Ballmer's strategy to turn Microsoft into a "devices and services" company. Human Mobile Devices (HMD), formally HMD Global, is a Finnish mobile phone manufacturer. The company is made up of the mobile phone business that the Nokia Corporation sold to Microsoft in 2014, then bought back in 2016. HMD began marketing Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones on 1 December 2016. The company has exclusive rights to the Nokia brand for mobile phones through a licensing agreement. The HMD brand was initially only used for corporate purposes and does not appear in advertising, whereas the name "Nokia Mobile" is used on social media. As it was launched, the acronym HMD stood for Hon Hai Mobile Devices. This was in reference to the main shareholder at the time of its creation: the Taiwanese group Foxconn. In January 2024, HMD rebranded to 'Human Mobile Devices', and will use their own branding on future devices alongside that of Nokia.

The Nokia 9 PureView is a Nokia-branded flagship penta-camera smartphone developed by HMD Global. It was introduced at the 2019 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain as a successor to the Nokia 8 Sirocco. It alludes to Nokia's previous camera-centric PureView devices, which ended with the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Like most of HMD's Nokia smartphones of the time, the 9 PureView is part of the Android One program.

It was released in September 2020.
