Guangzhou,also known as Canton,is the capital and largest city of Guangdong province in southern China. Located on the Pearl River about 120 km (75 mi) north-northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km (90 mi) north of Macau,Guangzhou has a history of over 2,200 years and was a major terminus of the maritime Silk Road;it continues to serve as a major port and transportation hub as well as being one of China's three largest cities. For a long time it was the only Chinese port accessible to most foreign traders. With Macau's small population and market,only a few media options are available for the local people. Because radio signals,newspapers and magazines from Hong Kong are available in Macau,the local media are always a minority group in terms of sales and number of viewers.

An important industrial city in the Pearl River Delta,Dongguan borders the provincial capital of Guangzhou to the north,Huizhou to the northeast,Shenzhen to the south,and the Pearl River to the west. It is part of the Pearl River Delta built-up area with more than 65.57 million inhabitants as of the 2020 census spread over nine municipalities across an area of 19,870 square kilometres (7,670 sq mi).

The Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link is a 26 km (16 mi) long stretch of high-speed rail that runs along a dedicated underground rail corridor linking Hong Kong to mainland China. It is one of the most expensive infrastructure undertakings in Hong Kong's history. The line connects Kowloon with the high-speed rail network of China at Futian station in the technology hub of Shenzhen,then running north towards the commercial/ political hub of Guangzhou. As of August 2023 the line has an average ridership of 79,000 passengers a day.
Shenzhen Foreign Languages School is a middle school and high school in Shenzhen,Guangdong,China specializing in language studies. It provides students with study in English,Japanese,French,German,Spanish and Russian. The school is known for its performance in the Chinese university administration examination Gaokao. In a 2016 ranking of Chinese high schools that send students to study in American universities,Shenzhen Foreign Language School ranked number 19 in mainland China in terms of the number of students entering top American universities.
Shenzhen College of International Education,more widely known by its acronym SCIE,is an international high school situated by the Antuo hill,in Futian District,Shenzhen,China. The school offers a four-year high-school program,adopting mainly Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) IGCSE and GCE A-level curriculums,and are taught mostly in English.
Futian station is a station on the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link,and the final station in mainland China before trains enter Hong Kong. Futian District is in southern Shenzhen,where the central business district is located. The station opened on 28 June 2011 serving the Shenzhen Metro,and since 30 December 2015 it has been the first underground high speed railway station on a long-distance line in China. It serves as an interchange station between the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link and Line 2,Line 3 and Line 11 of the Shenzhen Metro.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong,Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) is a public research university in Shenzhen. Located on the southern coast of China near Hong Kong,it is a joint venture between the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shenzhen University,as the local partner. CUHK-Shenzhen was officially founded on 11 October 2012,and approved by the Ministry of Education of China on 16 April 2014.
