This airport is able to handle widebody aircraft such as Boeing 777 or Boeing 747.

Bandar or Bunder is a Persian word meaning "port" and "haven". Etymologically it combines Persian بند Band (enclosed) and در dar meaning "an enclosed area" derived from Sanskrit/Avestan Bandha and Dwara (entrance). The word travelled with Persian sailors over a wide area leading to several coastal places in Iran and elsewhere having Bandar (haven) as part of their names. In some Indian languages the word Bandargah means "port". In Indonesian Malay it means "port". In Assamese-Bengali languages "bondor" means port.

Chahar Padshahan is the name of a historic mausoleum in Lahijan, Iran, where four rulers of the Karkiya dynasty are buried. It is number 322 on the list of national monuments of Iran. Despite being intended as a mausoleum, the Chahar Padshahan is also used as a mosque.

The 2021 Hormozgan earthquakes was a doublet earthquake event in Iran that occurred on November 14, 2021 with magnitudes of 6.0 and 6.4 on the moment magnitude scale. The two quakes occurred just a minute and a half apart, killing 2 people and injuring a further 100.

The 2022 Hormozgan earthquakes were a pair of doublet earthquakes that struck southern Iran on 1 July, 2022. The earthquakes, which occurred around two hours apart, killed seven people and injured dozens more.
