The 'A' Division National Futsal League is the professional futsal league in Nepal league organised by Turnpike Event Pvt Ltd in technical support with ANFA. [1] It was founded in 2021 and consists of 10 teams.

History

Background

All Nepal Football Association ANFA announced the creation of 'A' Division Futsal League on 25 January 2021. A total of 10 teams, two teams from Province 1 and Gandaki Province, one from Province 2, for from Bagmati Province and one team representing Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashim provinces, takes part in the competition organized by ANFA Futsal Committee. Organisation

Tournament format

The season consists of two stages, the league stage and the knockout stage. The league stage follows a double round-robin format, with each club playing the others twice. At the conclusion of the league stage, the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams from the league phase will play against each other in the first Qualifying match, with the winner going straight to the final and the loser getting another chance to qualify for the final by playing the second Qualifying match. Meanwhile, the third and fourth place teams from league phase play against each other in an eliminator match and the winner from that match will play the loser from the first Qualifying match. The winner of the second Qualifying match will move onto the final to play the winner of the first Qualifying match in the Final match, where the winner will be crowned the 'A' Division National Futsal League champions. Futsal League rules

If two or more teams are tied in the league stage, the following rules are applied according to the AFC futsal competition regulations: [4] [5]

  1. Higher number of points obtained in the group matches between the participating clubs in question
  2. Superior goal-difference from the group matches between the participating clubs in question
  3. Higher number of goals scored in the group matches between the participating clubs in question
  4. Superior goal-difference from all group matches played
  5. Higher number of goals scored from all group matches played
  6. Kicks from the penalty mark only if two participating clubs are involved and they are both on the field of play

Prize money

For the inaugural season, ANFA has offered a total prize of Rs. 1.5 million, where the winner will take the cash prize of Rs 1 million and first runner-up will take the prize of Rs 500,000. [6]

Broadcasting

Kantipur TV held the broadcasting right for the inaugural season of 'A' Division National Futsal League. As per the agreement, the matches will be shown live via Kantipur Television and its digital platforms Ekantipur.com and their YouTube channels. [7] [8]

The 2018–19 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League season, also known as Pulsar Martyr's Memorial A-Division League for sponsorship reasons, was the 42nd edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954-55. A total of 16 teams competed in the league. The season began on 29 September 2018 and concluded on 8 January 2019. It was the first top-division league held in the country since the 2015 National League due to aftermath of the 2015 Nepal earthquake. On 16 September 2018, it was decided that there will be no relegation, however the two bottom-placed teams would have two and one points deducted, respectively, in the following season.

The 2019 Martyr's Memorial B-Division League was the 2019 season of the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. A total of 12 teams competed in the league. The season started on 8 February and concluded on 5 March. The league did not have promotion to the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League and teams were not relegated to the Martyr's Memorial C-Division League, the bottom teams of each group however will have a one point deduction in the next edition of the league.

The 2019–20 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League season, also known as the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A-Division League for sponsorship reasons, was the 43rd edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954-55. A total of 18 teams competed in this edition of the league, which began on 14 December 2019 and concluded on 15 February 2020.

The 2021 'A' Division National Futsal League was the first season of the 'A' Division National Futsal League, the top flight based club futsal league of Nepal. A total of ten teams qualified in the tournament from 18 September to 8 October 2021. Sports Castle Pokhara were crowned as the league winners after defeating Sankhamul Futsal in the final by 4-2.

The 2022 Martyr's Memorial B-Division League season was the 2022 edition of the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. The tournament started on 2 March 2022.

The 2023 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League was the 45th edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954–55. A total of 14 teams competed in the league.

The 2023 Nepal Super League was the second season of the Nepal Super League, the top flight franchise based club football league of Nepal. A total of nine franchises participated in the tournament played at the Dasharath Rangasala from 24 November to 30 December 2023. Kathmandu Rayzrs had won the inaugural season after beating Dhangadhi FC in the final on 15 May 2021. In addition to the seven founding members, three new franchises were added. Jhapa FC represented Jhapa, Sporting Ilam De Mechi FC Ilam, and Birgunj United FC Birgunj. One of the founding members, Biratnagar City, decided to withdraw from the tournament, resulting in only nine teams participating in this edition. Lalitpur City FC became the champions of the second edition of this Nepal Super League. The losing finalist once again were Dhangadhi FC.

Mani Kumar Lama is a Nepalese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Martyr's Memorial A-Division League club Nepal A.P.F. and the Nepal national team.

The 2024 ANFA Women's League, also known as National Women's League is the ongoing 2024 edition of the first-tier women's club football competition in Nepal organized by the All Nepal Football Association. The season will scheduled to conduct 1 September to 12 October 2024.
