1. Bockenheimer FC was a German association football club from Frankfurt's western city district of Bockenheim. It was active between 1899 and 1901.
Formed in 1899, 1. BFC had only a short existence playing in the FAB (Frankfurter Associations Bund or Frankfurt Associations Federation). Bockenheim joined founders Frankfurter FC Germania 1894 , Frankfurter FC Victoria 1899 and Frankfurter FC in the league's second year, [1] playing out of their home ground at Hundswiese. 1. Bockenheim is recognized as one of the founding members of the German Football Association (Deutscher Fussball Bund or German Football Association) in 1900 at Leipzig alongside each of the other FAB clubs. The league disappeared by mid-1905 as Frankfurter sides drifted away to compete in the larger SFV (Süddeutscher Fussball Verband or South German Football League).[ citation needed ]
At the end of 1901, 1. FC folded when they lost their ground and a significant number of club members left to join the army. The remaining footballers went on to help form and play for clubs such as Germania 1901 Bockenheim, Bockenheimer Fußball-Vereinigung 1901, FV 1901 Amicitia, FC 1902 Helvetia, and FC 1902 Bockenheim . These clubs would merge over the course of the following years to form the core of the present-day side Rot-Weiß Frankfurt [ citation needed ]
The memory of the short-lived Bockenheimer side is also preserved in the chronicles of present-day clubs Viktoria Frankfurt and Kickers Offenbach who both remember 1. BFC as the team they defeated in the first matches they ever played. Bockenheim fell 1:4 to Viktoria on 19 March 1899 and 1:2 to Offenbach on 7 July 1901.[ citation needed ]
Karlsruher FV is a German association football club that plays in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. Established on 17 November 1891, KFV was a founding member of the German Football Association in 1900 and is the oldest still existing football club in Southern Germany. The club was one of the leading German football clubs before the First World War. The team went on to capture the national championship in 1910 with a 1–0 victory over Holstein Kiel, but lost the final in 1905 and 1912. The KFV claimed the Southern German football championship from 1901 to 1905 and from 1910 to 1912. After a financial collapse and a resulting disqualification from league operations in 2004, the club continued its activities in 2007.
Offenbacher Fussball-Club Kickers, commonly known as Kickers Offenbach, is a German association football club in Offenbach am Main, Hesse. The club was founded on 27 May 1901 in the Rheinischer Hof restaurant by footballers who had left established local clubs including Melitia, Teutonia, Viktoria, Germania and Neptun. From 1921 to 1925 they were united with VfB 1900 Offenbach as VfR Kickers Offenbach until resuming their status as a separate side, Offenbacher FC Kickers. Since 2012, Kickers Offenbach's stadium has been the Sparda Bank Hessen Stadium.
1. FC Frankfurt is a German football club based in Frankfurt (Oder), Brandenburg. The club was founded as the army club SV VP Vorwärts Leipzig in Leipzig in East Germany in 1951. The club won six East German championships as ASK Vorwärts Berlin and FC Vorwärts Berlin between 1958 and 1969.

Football, rugby, and cricket came to continental Europe in the late 19th century, and these "English games" became immediately popular in many countries. Viktoria was the oldest club in Germany that had teams playing both football and cricket. It was one of the founding members of the German Football Association (DFB) in Leipzig in 1900. The club merged with Lichterfelder FC in 2013 and has continued as FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin.

The vote held to establish the association was 64–22 in favour. Some delegates present represented more than one club, but may have voted only once.
