The 10th General Junta was the meeting of the General Junta, the parliament of the Principality of Asturias, with the membership determined by the results of the regional election held on 24 May 2015. The congress met for the first time on 15 June 2019.

Election

The 10th Asturian regional election was held on 24 May 2015. At the election the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) remained the largest party in the General Junta but fell short of a majority again. [1]

The new parliament met for the first time on 26 June 2015 and after two rounds, Pedro Sanjurjo (PSOE) was re-elected as President of the General Junta. [2]

The Medal of the Principality of Asturias is a Spanish civil decoration, the highest distinction awarded by the autonomous community of Asturias. Its purpose is to reward merits considered truly unique, carried out by both individuals and entities recognized for having provided services or activities of various nature for the benefit of the general interests of the Principality of Asturias. It is described in Law 4/1986, of 15 May, regulating honors and distinctions, published in the Boletín Oficial del Principado de Asturias number 125 on 30 May 1986. This rule replaced the regulations for the granting of honors and distinctions of the former Provincial Council of Asturias, of 29 October 1970. The medal has two different categories: gold and silver.

The election will be held simultaneously with regional elections in eleven other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain.

The 8th General Junta was the meeting of the General Junta, the parliament of the Principality of Asturias, with the membership determined by the results of the regional election held on 22 May 2011. The congress met for the first time on 15 June 2011. It is the shortest meeting of the democratic General Junta as it ended after then President of Asturias, Francisco Álvarez-Cascos, called a snap election, being the first non-historic autonomous community to do so.
