The 10th Mobile Border Detachment, also known as the 10th Separate Operational Response Detachment "WATCH" (military unit 1496) [1] is a state border protection body that directly fulfills the tasks assigned to the State Border Service to ensure the inviolability of the state border of Ukraine on the sections of the state border determined by the decision of the State Border Service Administration. [2] The commander is Colonel Maksym Vileninovych Balagura.
In mid-April 2018, to ensure the fulfillment of tasks in various regions, the deployment of the special operations department "DOZOR" with locations in Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Kherson, and Odesa began. In May 2018, it is planned to start a new course of selection for the ranks of the detachment. [3]
By the end of the year, it is planned to have about 1,000 border special forces personnel and increase efforts to create maritime special forces, which is about 270 people who will serve in Dozor-M units in the waters of the Azov and Black seas. [4]
In May 2019, with the assistance of the US Embassy, two safe boats, which can be used for patrol and raid-assault purposes, were transferred to the border agency. Modern boats will be used by the 10th Separate Operational Response unit (D.O.Z.O.R.) for operational and service purposes. The crew of the boat is four sailors. However, it is possible to accommodate up to 20 airborne troops with equipment. [5] [6]
In September 2019, the unit took part in international competitions in Lithuania. According to his results, he took second place. [7]
Since 24 February 2022, the detachment has been actively contesting the Russian invasion of Ukraine. More details about the entire success of the unit will be described after the victory in the war since this information is currently classified.
It took part in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive during which a personnel of the detachment (Serhii Volodymyrovych Kirylenko) was killed on 6 July 2023 in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and was posthumously awarded the Hero of Ukraine. [8]
On 30 April 2023, the 10th Mobile Border Detachment was awarded the "For Courage and Bravery" by the decree of the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. [9]
In May 2023, the detachment in coordination with Chernivtsi Border Detachment detained three people trying to illegally cross the Ukraine-Romania border along with their smuggler and two vehicles used by them were seized. [10]

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is the border guard of Ukraine. It is an independent law enforcement agency, organized by the Constitution of Ukraine as a military formation, the head of which is subordinated to the President of Ukraine.
The Project 58181 Centaur (Kentavr)/Project 58503 Centaur-LK class is a series of small armored assault craft being built for the Ukrainian Navy. The first two vessels were laid down at the Kuznya na Rybalskomu in December 2016. The 58181 project was developed by State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center on the basis of the Gyurza-M-class gunboats, and the 58503 project number was assigned to the altered design used after construction of the first eight units began (by the contractor that oversaw their construction, PJSC ZLK. Designed for carrying patrol service on rivers and coastal maritime areas, delivery and landing of marines.
State Transport Special Service is a specialized military unit that is a part of the Ministry of Defense and was created to guarantee the reliable operation of transportation during special occasions and times of peace. The structure of the military formation was altered in compliance with revisions made to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Special Transport Service" at the end of 2017; the previous combined and independent units were restructured into brigades, regiments, and separate battalions.
The 3rd Border Detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevgeny Pikus, also known as Pomsta Brigade, is an assault brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine that is part of the Offensive Guard.
801st Special Marine Detachment is an elite unit of the Ukrainian Navy and is concerned with underwater special operations as well as combat reconnaissance operations. It is currently based at Odessa and has taken part in multiple engagements during the Russo-Ukrainian War.

The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Border Detachment (MUN 2197) is a brigade level detachment of the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Ukraine-Moldova border in three Raions of the Odessa Oblast, with a total length of 401,551 km, 308,286 km on land, 64,965 km on river and 28.3 km on lake.
The Berdyansk Border Detachment (MUN 1491) is a brigade level detachment of the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Sea of Azov and the "border" with Crimea in two raions of Zaporizhia Oblast as well as guarding the Port of Berdiansk and Zaporizhzhia International Airport with a total length of 395.5km. Due to the Russian occupation of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, it's operations along the coast are currently suspended and it currently operates against Russian forces on the frontlines.
The Chernivtsi Border Detachment "Major-General Oleksandr Pylkevich" (MUN 2195) is a brigade level detachment of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Ukraine-Moldova border and the Ukraine-Romania border in three Raions of Chernivtsi Oblast, one Raion of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast as well as guarding the Ivano-Frankivsk Airport and Chernivtsi International Airport. The total border guarded by the detachment is 404.7km of which Ukrainian-Romanian section is 234.7km and the Ukrainian-Moldovan section is 170km.
The Chop Border Detachment (MUN 1493) is a brigade level detachment of the Central Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Poland-Ukraine border, Hungary-Ukraine border and the Ukraine-Romania border in Uzhhorod Raion of Zakarpattia Oblast as well as the Uzhhorod International Airport. The detachment guards border length 149.4 km, 83 km mountainous, 19.6 km riverine and 46.8 km in plains.
The Kharkiv Border Detachment (MUN 9951) is a brigade level detachment of the Eastern Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Russia-Ukraine border in four raions of Kharkiv Oblast as well as the Kharkiv International Airport and the Dnipro International Airport. The detachment guards border length of 315.5 km, including 7.5 km by water.
The Kherson Border Detachment (MUN 2161) is a brigade level detachment of the Eastern Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Black Sea and the de facto "Russia-Ukraine border" in four Raions of Kherson Oblast and one Raion of Mykolaiv Oblast. The detachment guards border length of 506.8 km, 306.8 km on land, 180 km on river and 20 km on lake.
The Izmail Border Detachment "Colonel Oleksandr Zhukovsky" (MUN 1474) is a brigade level detachment of the Eastern Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Moldova-Ukraine border and Romania-Ukraine border in two Raions as well as three seaports and Izmail International Airport. It guards 442.4km border with Moldova including 3 km along lake and 132.8km along land and 306.6km border with Romania, 181.1km along the Danube River and 125.5 km maritime border.
The Lutsk Border Detachment (MUN 9971) is a brigade level detachment of the Western Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Poland-Ukraine border and the Ukraine-Belarus border in two Raions of Rivne Oblast and two Raions of Volyn Oblast. The detachment guards a total border length of 545.5 km, 395 km in Volyn Oblast including 190 km with Poland, including 128 km along the Western Bug River and 205 km with Belarus and 150.5 km in Rivne Oblast with Belarus.
The Lviv Border Detachment (MUN 2144) also known as the Carpathian Border Detachment is a brigade level detachment of the Western Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Poland-Ukraine border in four Raions of Lviv Oblast. The detachment guards a total border length of 279 km including 50 km riverine and 107 km mountainous.
The Mohyliv-Podilskyi Border Detachment "Hero of Ukraine of Vyacheslav Semenov" (MUN 2193) is a brigade level detachment of the Western Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Moldova-Ukraine border and the Transnistria border in two Raions of Vinnytsia Oblast. The detachment guards a border length of 141.2km along the Dniester with the Moldova and 49.5km with Transnistria.
The Mukachevo Border Detachment "Hero of Carpathian Sich" (MUN 2142) is a brigade level detachment of the Western Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The detachment guards the Romania-Ukraine border and the Hungary-Ukraine border border in five Raions of Zakarpattia Oblast. The detachment guards a border length of 316.2 km, 112.3 km with Hungary and 203.9 km with Romania with 121 km on plains, 120 km on river and 75.2 km on mountainous terrain.
