The 12th General Junta is the current meeting of the General Junta, the parliament of the Principality of Asturias, with the membership determined by the results of the regional election held on 28 May 2023. The congress met for the first time on 26 June 2023, with a maximum term of four years.
The 12th Asturian regional election was held on 28 May 2023. At the election the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) remained the largest party in the General Junta despite losing one seat, falling short of a majority again. The People's Party of Asturias (PP) gained 7 seats after the collapse of Citizens (CS). [1]

The new parliament met for the first time on 26 June 2023 and Juan Cofiño (PSOE) was elected as President of the General Junta with the support of United Left and Asturian Forum. [2]

Berta Piñán Suárez is an Asturian writer, professor of Spanish Language and Literature, full member of the Academy of the Asturian Language, and since July 25, 2019, Minister of Consejería de Cultura, Política Lingüística y Turismo del Principado de Asturias.
Cristina Coto de la Mata is a Spanish politician who was president of the Asturias Forum (2015–2018) and was a deputy in the General Junta of the Principality of Asturias and in the Oviedo City Council (2011–2019). Prior to being elected to office, she was a lawyer and a People's Party regional official.
The second government of Adrián Barbón was formed on 1 August 2023, following the latter's reelection as President of the Principality of Asturias by the General Junta of the Principality of Asturias on 19 July and his swearing-in on 27 July, as a result of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) emerging as the largest parliamentary force at the 2023 regional election and reaching a coalition agreement with Assembly for Asturias, that comprises United Left of Asturias, More Asturias and Asturian Left. It succeeded his first government and is the incumbent Government of the Principality of Asturias since 1 August 2023.
