Oliver Samuel Edward Michael Campbell was an American male tennis player who won the three consecutive singles titles at the U.S. Championships from 1890 through 1892.
Mabel Esmonde Cahill was an Irish female tennis player, active in the late 19th century, and was the first foreign woman to win a major tennis tournament when she won the 1891 US National Championships.

Reigning champion Mabel Cahill did not participate and could therefore not defend her title in the challenge round.
