The 1912 Copa de Honor Cousenier was the final match to decide the winner of the Copa de Honor Cousenier, the 8th. edition of the international competition organised by the Argentine and Uruguayan Associations together. The final was contested by Uruguayan side River Plate and Argentine Racing Club de Avellaneda. [1]

The match was held in the Estadio Gran Parque Central in Montevideo, on December 8, 1912. River Plate beat Racing Club 2–1, [2] winning its first and only Copa Cousenier trophy. [3] [4]

River reached important achievements during the first years of football in the country. In fact, the national side's uniform is a light blue ("celeste") shirt in tribute to River Plate victory over Argentine team Alumni, when the squad had to wear an alternate jersey to solve a color similarity between both teams.

The Copa de Honor Cusenier was an international football club competition which was played 13 times between representatives of the Argentina and Uruguay associations between 1905 and 1920.

1913 in Argentine football saw Racing Club de Avellaneda win its first league championship. The team also won the Copa Ibarguren, the Copa de Honor Municipalidad de Buenos Aires and the Copa de Honor Cousenier.

1914 in Argentine football saw Racing Club win its second consecutive Primera División title, apart from winning its second successive Copa Ibarguren. Porteño won the dissident FAF championship, the last tournament before both leagues AFA and FAF reunified. River Plate won domestic Copa de Competencia Jockey Club and international Copa de Honor Cousenier.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Abdón Porte</span> Uruguayan footballer (1893-1918)

Abdón Porte was a Uruguayan footballer who played as defensive midfielder. Nicknamed El Indio he won many titles with his club Nacional, and also a Copa América with the Uruguay national team. He committed suicide on 5 March 1918, by shooting himself in the center of the field at Estadio Gran Parque Central, an incident still remembered by the sport community of Uruguay.

The 1920 Copa de Honor Cousenier was the 15° edition of this competition. It was contested by the champions of Copa de Honor Municipalidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Copa de Honor (Uruguay).

The 1917 Copa Aldao was the final match to decide the winner of the Copa Aldao, the 3rd. edition of the international competition organised by the Argentine and Uruguayan Associations together. The final was contested by Argentine Racing Club de Avellaneda and Uruguayan Club Nacional de Football.
