The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion. Men's competitions took place from February 25 to 26 in Berlin, Germany. Ladies' and pairs' competitions took place from March 5 to 6 in London, United Kingdom.

Skaters from Germany, Austria, and Japan were not allowed to compete.

It was the fourth appearance of the event, which had previously been held at the Summer Olympics in 1908 and 1920 and was also part of the first Winter Games in 1924. The competition was held from Tuesday, 14 February to Friday, 17 February 1928. Seventeen figure skaters from ten nations competed.
