The 1948 Honduran Amateur League was the second edition of the Honduran Amateur League. F.C. Motagua obtained its 1st national title. The season ran from 11 July to 26 October 1948. [1]

Liga Amateur de Honduras was previous to the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras. It ran from 1947 to 1964.

Played in a single round-robin format between the regional champions and current champions C.D. Victoria. Also known as the Cuadrangular. The game between F.C. Motagua and Victoria played at Estadio Tiburcio Carías Andino became the first and only game as of today in Honduran football history that had three 15 minutes extra times. This happened in the very last match of the final round which Victoria won 3–2, a score that resulted in both teams finishing with 4 points each. After 135 minutes of exhausting play, the game remained tied and the title undecided. This forced the decision to play a rematch which ended in a 2–2 draw, forcing yet another rematch which was finally won by Motagua. [2]

A round-robin tournament is a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. A round-robin contrasts with an elimination tournament, in which participants are eliminated after a certain number of losses.

Club Deportivo Victoria is a Honduran football club based in La Ceiba, Atlántida. They have enjoyed success in the past having won the Honduran first division once. They currently play in the Honduran second division.

Estadio Tiburcio Carías Andino football stadium

The Estadio Nacional is a multi-purpose stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It is used mostly for Association football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 34,000 and it is the home of football clubs F.C. Motagua, C.D. Olimpia and Lobos UPNFM.

The 1950–51 Honduran Amateur League was the fourth edition of the Honduran Amateur League. F.C. Motagua obtained its 2nd national title. The season ran from 9 September 1950 to 23 January 1951.

The 1947 Honduran football season was the first edition of the Amateur League, won by C.D. Victoria, after winning the championship round against F.C. Motagua and C.D. Marathón. Victoria was managed by Francisco Detari and some of the club's famous players at that time were Héctor Briza, Julián Fiallos, Mario Artica, Félix Chimilio and Leonardo Godoy. The trophy was known as the Winston Churchill Cup and was delivered by British Prime Minister Rees John Sowler.

The 2011–12 season in Honduran Liga Nacional was divided into two tournaments and determined the 59th and 60th champions in the history of the league. It also provided two berths for the 2012–13 CONCACAF Champions League. The Apertura tournament was played in the second half of 2011, while the Clausura was played in the first half of 2012. A new change in the system was used for this season; unlike previous years, 6 teams qualified to the final round, matching team 3rd vs team 6th and team 4th vs team 5th, those who advanced played the semifinals against 1st and 2nd.

The tournament started in July 2018 and ended in June 2019. The season was divided into two halves, each crowning one champion. F.C. Motagua as winners of both tournaments, qualified to the 2019 CONCACAF League as HON1. Club Deportivo Olimpia as runner-ups and C.D. Marathón as the team with the third best record, also qualified to international contention for next season.
