The 1956 World Table Tennis Championships women's singles was the 23rd edition of the women's singles championship. [1] [2] Tomi Okawa defeated Kiiko Watanabe in the final by three sets to two, to win the title. [3]

The World Table Tennis Championships are table tennis competitions sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The World Championships have been held since 1926, biennially since 1957.
