The inaugural elections to North-East Fife Council were held in May 1974, the same day as the other Scottish local government elections.

North-East Fife was one of three local government districts in the Fife region of Scotland from 1975 - 1996.

Local government in Scotland is organised through 32 unitary authorities designated as councils which consist of councillors elected every five years by registered voters in each of the council areas.

1974 Scottish local elections

There were elections for the Scottish district councils on Tuesday 7 May 1974, for both the new regional and district councils, between the two United Kingdom general elections of February and October in that same year.

Elections to North-East Fife Council were held in May 1992, the same day as the other Scottish local government elections. The election was the last for the North-East Fife District Council, as the council would be replaced on 1 April 1996 by the Fife Council unitary authority after the 1995 election.
