Jimmy Connors defeated Ken Rosewall in the final, 6–1, 6–1, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1974 Wimbledon Championships.
Arthur Ashe defeated the defending champion Jimmy Connors in the final, 6–1, 6–1, 5–7, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1975 Wimbledon Championships. He became the first Black man to win the singles title at Wimbledon.
Björn Borg defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 6–4, 6–2, 9–7 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1976 Wimbledon Championships. It was the first of his five consecutive Wimbledon titles, and he became the first man in the Open Era to win the title without losing a set during the tournament.

Ken Rosewall defeated Rod Laver in the final, 6–3, 6–1, 2–6, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1968 French Open. It was Rosewall's second French title, and his fifth Grand Slam tournament title overall. The tournament was the first major of the Open Era, in which professionals were allowed to compete against amateurs. Rosewall and Laver, who had not appeared in a Grand Slam major since 1956 and 1962 respectively, were among those no longer barred from entering.
