The 1978 WBF World Invitational Badminton Championships sanctioned by former governing body World Badminton Federation (WBF) took place in the month of February in Hong Kong. [1] This invitational tournament was held prior to the first official WBF World Championships which was held in Bangkok later in that year. The individual competitions were conducted. [2] At the end of day, China won all the disciplines except Mixed doubles which was won by host Hong Kong. [3] [4]

Chen Long, is a Chinese former professional badminton player. He is the 2016 Olympic champion, two-time World champion, and an Asian champion.
Datuk Lee Chong Wei is a Malaysian former professional badminton player. As a singles player, Lee was ranked first worldwide for 349 weeks, including a 199-week streak from 21 August 2008 to 14 June 2012. He is the fifth Malaysian player after Foo Kok Keong, Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim and Wong Choong Hann to achieve such a ranking, and is the only Malaysian shuttler who has held the number one ranking for more than a year.
The Uber Cup, sometimes called the World Women's Team Championships, is a major international badminton competition contested by women's national badminton teams. First held in 1956–1957 and contested at three year intervals, it has been contested every two years since 1984 when its scheduled times and venues were merged with those of Thomas Cup, the world men's team championship. In 2007, the Badminton World Federation decided to have Thomas and Uber Cup finals separated again but the proposal was ultimately abandoned. The Uber Cup is named after a former British women's badminton player, Betty Uber, who in 1950 had the idea of hosting a women's event similar to the men's. She also made the draw for the 1956–1957 inaugural tournament, which took place at Lytham St. Annes in Lancashire, England.

The 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the third edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, staged at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippines, from 11 to 16 February 2020. This championships was organized by the Badminton Asia with Philippine Badminton Association as host organiser and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation. This tournament served as the Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup in Denmark. Competitors could also accumulate points as part of qualification process for 2020 Summer Olympics badminton tournament in Tokyo. Indonesia and Japan were the defending champions on men's and women's category respectively. They both successfully defended their title.
The Asia Golf Circuit was the principal men's professional golf tour in Southeast Asia from the early 1960s through to the mid-late 1990s. The tour was founded in 1961 as the Far East Circuit. The first series of five tournaments was held in 1962 and consisted of the national open championships of the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, plus a final tournament held in Japan. The tour gradually grew over the subsequent years, eventually becoming a regular ten tournament circuit in 1974.
Huang Zhanzhong is a Chinese badminton player. He won the men's doubles title at the 1995 Asian Cup, and was part of Chinese team that won the 1990 Asian Games and 1995 Sudirman Cup. Huang competed in the men's doubles tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

The individual competitions except Mixed doubles were conducted. A total of thirteen Asian countries took part in this event. At the end of day, China won all the disciplines except Men's doubles which was won by Indonesia.

Chen Yuniang is a Chinese former badminton player and coach. Chen’s first international success was at the 1963 GANEFO Games, where she earned a gold medal in women's doubles and a bronze medal in women's singles. At the 1974 Asian Games, she won gold medals in both the women's singles and women's team events. After her playing career, Chen became the coach for the Chinese national team. She also served as the vice-chairman of the China Badminton Association (CBA) and a representative to the National People's Congress for 3 consecutive terms. Chen was inducted into the IBF Hall of Fame in 2002.
Sun Zhian is a Chinese former badminton player and coach. He is the gold medalist in World Games in 1981 and a former World Champion.
