The 1980 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament began on 23 January and ended on 15 February 1980 and was the 7th CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay did not participate. Argentina and Colombia qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics. [1]

The winner and the runner-up qualified for 1992 Summer Olympics. Players born on or after 1 January 1969 were eligible to play in this competition.

The 2018 Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana was the 17th edition of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, South America's secondary club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL.

The 1996 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament began on 18 February 1996 and was the 10th CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. This was the second tournament open to players under the age of 23 without any other restriction. There was no qualification stage and all 10 members of CONMEBOL automatically qualified. The winner and the runner-up qualified for 1996 Summer Olympics. Players born on or after 1 January 1973 were eligible to play in this competition.

The 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament was the 13th edition of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, the quadrennial, international, age-restricted football tournament organised by the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) to determine which men's under-23 national teams from the South American region qualify for the Olympic football tournament.

The 2020 Categoría Primera A season was the 73rd season of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia's top-flight football league. The season began on 23 January and concluded on 29 December 2020. América de Cali entered the season as defending champions having won the 2019 Finalización tournament, and managed to defend their title by beating Santa Fe 3–2 on aggregate in the finals, winning their fifteenth domestic league championship.

The 2023 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina was the 15th edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina, South America's premier women's club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament was held in Colombia from 5 to 21 October 2023.

The 2023 South American U-20 Championship was the 30th edition of the South American U-20 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by CONMEBOL for the men's under-20 national teams of South America. It was held in Colombia between 19 January and 12 February 2023.

The 2022 Categoría Primera A season was the 75th season of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia's top-flight football league. The season began on 20 January and ended on 7 December 2022. Deportivo Cali were the defending champions, having won the 2021 Finalización tournament.

The 1996–97 Categoría Primera A season, known as Copa Mustang 1996–97 for sponsoring purposes, was the 50th season of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia's top-flight football league. The season started on 8 September 1996 and ended on 21 December 1997. América de Cali were the champions, winning their ninth domestic league title after beating the Torneo Adecuación winners Atlético Bucaramanga in the championship playoff.
