The 1980 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament began on 23 January and ended on 15 February 1980 and was the 7th CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay did not participate. Argentina and Colombia qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics. [1]

The football tournament at the 1980 Summer Olympics started on July 20 and ended on August 2. Only one event, the men's tournament, was contested. Several qualified countries did not participate because of the American-led boycott.

2001 Copa América football tournament

The 2001 Copa América was held in Colombia, from 11 to 29 July. It was organised by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body.

The 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup was the 18th FIFA U-20 World Cup. Colombia hosted the tournament between 29 July and 20 August 2011, with matches being played in eight cities. The tournament was won by Brazil who claimed their fifth title.

This was the 3rd tournament open to players under the age of 23 without any other restriction. There was no qualification stage and all 10 members of CONMEBOL automatically qualified. The winner and the runner-up qualified for 2000 Summer Olympics. Players born on or after 1 January 1977 were eligible to play in this competition.

The 2016 Copa Sudamericana final stages were scheduled to be played from 20 September to 7 December 2016. A total of 16 teams competed in the final stages to decide the champions of the 2016 Copa Sudamericana.

The 2018 Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana was the 17th edition of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, South America's secondary club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL.

The 2018 Copa Colombia, officially the 2018 Copa Águila for sponsorship reasons, was the 16th edition of the Copa Colombia, the national cup competition for clubs of DIMAYOR. The tournament was contested by 36 teams. Junior were the defending champions, but were knocked out by Atlético Nacional in the quarterfinals. Atlético Nacional were the champions after beating Once Caldas 4–3 on aggregate in the final, and qualified for the 2019 Copa Libertadores.

The 2018 Copa Libertadores qualifying stages were played from 22 January to 22 February 2018. A total of 19 teams competed in the qualifying stages to decide four of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2018 Copa Libertadores.

The 2018 Copa Libertadores group stage was played from 27 February to 24 May 2018. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the final stages of the 2018 Copa Libertadores.

The 2018 Copa Sudamericana final stages were played from 21 August to 12 December 2018. A total of 16 teams competed in the final stages to decide the champions of the 2018 Copa Sudamericana.

The 2019 South American U-20 Championship was the 29th edition of the South American U-20 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by CONMEBOL for the men's under-20 national teams of South America. It was held in Chile between 17 January and 10 February 2019.
