Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup 1981–82 is the fourth staging of this two-leg competition between Hong Kong and Guangdong.

The first leg was played in Hong Kong Stadium on 3 January 1982 while the second leg was played in Guangzhou on 12 January 1982.

Hong Kong Stadium is the main sports venue of Hong Kong. Redeveloped from the old Government Stadium, it reopened as Hong Kong Stadium in March 1994. It has a maximum seating capacity of 40,000, including 18,260 at the main level, 3,173 at executive level, 18,510 upper level seats and 57 seats for wheelchair users.

Cheung Chi Wai is a former professional footballer who spent the 1968 season in the North American Soccer League, playing for the Vancouver Royals.

Choi York Yee Hong Kong footballer

Choi York Yee is a retired Hong Kong football player and is now a sports commentator in Hong Kong.

Chan Sai Kau is a retired Hong Kong professional football player. He is regarded as one of the best defenders in the 1970s. He played for South China for many years. He then transferred to Happy Valley with teammates Choi York Yee and Fung Chi Ming in 1978-79 season by signing a contract of HKD$5,500 per month. This was a big contract value at the time.

Wu Kwok Hung, nicknamed "Big Head", was a famous football player in Hong Kong. He played in Hong Kong First Division League teams including Tung Sing, South China and Seiko as a midfielder.
