Ofra Haza Israeli singer

Bat-Sheva Ofra Haza-Ashkenazi was an Israeli singer, actress and Grammy Award-nominee recording artist, commonly known as "The Israeli Madonna", or "Madonna of the East". Her voice has been described as a "tender" mezzo-soprano.

Eurovision Song Contest 1983 song contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 1983 was the 28th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Munich, then West Germany, on 23 April 1983. The presenter was Marlene Charell. Corinne Hermes was the winner of this Eurovision with the song, "Si la vie est cadeau". This was Luxembourg's fifth victory in the contest which equalled the record set by France in 1977. It was also the second year in a row where the winning entry was performed last on the night and the second year in a row in which Israel won 2nd place.

Israel has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 41 times since making its debut in 1973. Israel was able to enter the contest as the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) is a member organisation of the European Broadcasting Union, which is responsible for the event. Israel has won the contest four times, and has hosted the contest twice, in 1979 and 1999, both times in Jerusalem. Israel will host the contest for the third time in Tel Aviv in 2019.

The Kdam Eurovision in short known as the Kdam was the Israeli national preselection of the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition was first introduced in 1981 and was discontinued in 2011.

Push the Button (Teapacks song) Teapacks

Push the Button, known in Hebrew as Red Button, was the Israeli entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, performed in English, French and Hebrew by Teapacks. This song was the first Israeli entry to feature lyrics in French, and thus the first to feature lyrics in any language but Hebrew and English. The entry won that representation by an absolute majority, winning the 20% televote, 20% SMS vote, 20% pre-vote and the 40% jury vote. Teapacks had been selected as the Israeli representative by the Israel Broadcasting Authority and invited to perform four songs at the national final to determine which one would be performed in Helsinki.

Spain entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem, Israel. Televisión Española (TVE) internally selected Lydia to represent Spain with the song "No quiero escuchar".

Slovenia competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, represented by Darja Švajger and "For A Thousand Years". the song, performed in Slovene as "Se tisoc let", was the winner of the Slovene national final, EMA 1999.

Norway competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, represented by Stig van Eijk with the song "Living My Life Without You". The song was chosen as the Norwegian entry after winning the Melodi Grand Prix 1999 contest.

Portugal selected its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 through the Festival da Canção contest, organised by the Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP). The winner of the festival was Rui Bandeira with the song "Como tudo começou", which represented Portugal at the Contest in Jerusalem, Israel on 29 May.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will be the 64th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The contest is scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv, Israel, following Israel's victory at the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song "Toy", performed by Netta. The contest will be held at Expo Tel Aviv, the city's convention centre; the show will consist of two semi-finals on 14 and 16 May, and the final on 18 May 2019.
