The 1984 NAIA Division I football season was the 15th season of play of the NAIA's top division for football.
The season was played from August to November 1984 and culminated in the 1984 NAIA Champion Bowl , played this year on December 15, 1984 at Estes Stadium in Conway, Arkansas on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas. [1]
Carson–Newman and Central Arkansas played to a tie, 19–19, in the Champion Bowl and both teams were named co-national champions, Carson–Newman's second NAIA title and Central Arkansas' first. [2]

The 1973 NCAA Division II football season, part of college football in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division II level. The season began in September and concluded with the Division II Championship on December 15 at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento, California. This was the first season for Division II football, which were formerly in the College Division in 1972 and prior.
The 1971 NAIA Division I football season was the 16th season of college football sponsored by the NAIA and the second season of the league's two-division structure. The season was played from August to November 1971 and culminated in the 1971 NAIA Champion Bowl, played on December 11, 1971 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Livingston defeated Arkansas Tech in the Champion Bowl, 14–12, to win their first NAIA national title.

The 1984 Carson–Newman Eagles football team was an American football team that represented Carson–Newman College as a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) during the 1984 NAIA Division I football season. In its fifth year under head coach Ken Sparks, the team compiled a 10–2–1 record, won the SAC championship, and tied Central Arkansas in the Champion Bowl to become the NAIA national co-champion.
