The 1989 FIVB Men's World Cup was held from 17 to 26 November 1989 in Japan. Eight men's national teams played in three cities in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, and Hiroshima) for the right to a fast lane ticket into the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Cuba emerged as Champion, with Italy as the runners-up, the Soviet Union in third place, and the United States in fourth. [1]

The 2006 FIVB Women's World Championship was the fifteenth edition of the competition, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament was held from 31 October to 16 November 2006 in Japan.
