Elections to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly were held in February 1990 to elect members of the 200 constituencies in Rajasthan, India. [1] The Indian National Congress won the popular vote, but the Bharatiya Janata Party won the most seats and its leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was appointed as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for his second term. [2] [3] The number of constituencies was set as 200 by the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India. [4]

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was an Indian politician who served as the 11th vice president of India. He served in that position from August 2002, when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant, until he resigned on 21 July 2007, after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times, from 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992 and 1993 to 1998. He represented several constituencies in Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha from 1952 to 2002. He was also awarded Padma Bhushan in the year 2003.
Jaswant Singh Bishnoi was a member of 13th and 14th Lok Sabha from Jodhpur. He is senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajasthan.

The 2002 Indian vice presidential election was held on 12 August 2002 to elect the newly vacated post of the vice president of India. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat defeated Sushil Kumar Shinde to become 11th vice president of India. Incumbent VP Krishan Kant did not contest the election and died before the election occurred. Sekhawat got nearly 60% of votes, which was lowest among any winning candidates.
