The Soviet Union national football team was the national football team of the Soviet Union.
The Ukraine national football team represents Ukraine in men's international football competitions and it's governed by the Ukrainian Association of Football, the governing body for football in Ukraine. Ukraine's home ground is the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv. The team is a full member of FIFA since 1992 and also a member UEFA since 1992
The Russia national rugby union team represents Russia in men's international rugby union international competitions, nicknamed the Bears, is administered by the Rugby Union of Russia (RUR). The RUR is considered the official successor union of the Soviet Union by World Rugby and the combined CIS team which played in the early 1990s. Since 1992, the team has played as Russia. Its first test match as Russia was against the Barbarians in Moscow in June 1992 and the country's first test against an official Test nation was against Belgium later that same year.

The 2002 FC Spartak Moscow season was the clubs 11th season in the Russian Premier League season. Spartak were defending Premier League Champions, having won the previous six titles, but finished the season in third place. In the Russian Cup, Spartak progressed the Quarterfinals of the 2002–03 cup, which will take place in the 2003 season. In Europe, Spartak finished bottom of their UEFA Champions League group where they played Valencia, Basel and Liverpool.
