The 1991 Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship was the 5th running of the Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship organised by Motorcycling Australia. The final took place on 6 January 1991 at the Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura, Victoria. The championship was won by Mildura's own Leigh Adams who won the third of his four national Under-21 championships. Shane Parker from Adelaide was second with another Mildura rider Jason Lyons in third place. Parker defeated Lyons in a run-off for the minor placings after both finished the meeting on 13 points. Former South Australian champion Scott Norman defeated Dave Hamnett from New South Wales in a run-off for fourth place after both finished the meeting on 11 points.

The Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held each year since 1986, with the exception of 1994 and 1995, to determine the Australian Under-21 national champion. The event is organised by Motorcycling Australia (MA). The event was run as the Australian Under-18 Championship in 1986. This lasted just one year and was changed to the Under-21 Championship in 1987 to bring it in line with the Individual Speedway Junior World Championship which is also for Under-21s.

Motorcycling Australia is the governing body for motorcycle racing in Australia, covering road racing, motocross, trials, supercross, dirt track, supermoto and speedway. Motorcycling Australia is affiliated with the international governing body, Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mildura is a regional city in north-west Victoria, Australia. Located on the Victorian side of the Murray River, Mildura had a population of 33,444 in 2016. When nearby Wentworth, Irymple, Nichols Point and Merbein are included, the area had an estimated urban population of 50,998 at June 2016. It is the largest settlement in the Sunraysia region. Mildura is a major horticultural centre notable for its grape production, supplying 80% of Victoria's grapes. Many wineries also source grapes from Mildura.

Shane Andrew Parker is a former Australian motorcycle speedway rider and a four time South Australian Champion. Currently he is riding in the Australian season at his home track of Gillman Speedway in Adelaide, and finished second in the 2012/13 South Australian Championship behind reigning champion and Speedway Grand Prix rider, Troy Batchelor. Shane Parker holds one of the unluckiest records in Australian speedway, having been the runner-up in the South Australian title on seven occasions during his career.

Jason Rodney Lyons is an Australian international motorcycle speedway rider. Jason is the son of former rider Rod Lyons. The younger Lyons was the winner of the Australian Pairs Championship in 1992 as well as Victorian State Champion in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and he won the South Australian Championship in 1999.

Todd Wiltshire is a retired Australian motorcycle speedway rider who competed at the highest level of the sport, finishing a career best third in the 1990 Individual Speedway World Championship at the Odsal Stadium in Bradford, England. The final took place on 26 January 1992 at the North Arm Speedway in Adelaide, South Australia. The championship was won by Mildura's Leigh Adams who won the first of his record 10 national championships. Shane Parker from Adelaide was second with Queensland's Mark Carlson in third place. Jason Lyons, also from Mildura defeated former champion Glenn Doyle and Queensland's Tony Langdon in a run-off for fourth place to grab the last Australian qualifying spot in the 1992 Commonwealth Final in England.

Max Fricke is an Australian speedway rider who won the Australian Under-21 Championship in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017, and the Australian Solo Championship in 2019.

Sidewinders Speedway

The Sidewinders Speedway is a junior Motorcycle speedway that was opened in 1978 in the semi-industrial Adelaide suburb of Wingfield in South Australia. The Sidewinders U/16 Speedway Club Inc. was founded two years earlier in 1976 by Graham Baker and Roy Bitmead, with help from Rowley Park Speedway riders Robin and Kym Amundson, and their father Bill. As it was then, Sidewinders goal is to promote and develop speedway through its junior ranks with riders aged 4–15, something that had rarely been done in Australia to that point. Once a rider turns 16 he or she then move into the senior ranks.

The 1994 Australian Individual Speedway Championship was held at the Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura, Victoria on 22 January 1994. Two time defending champion Leigh Adams won his third straight Australian Championship and his first with a 15 point maximum. Jason Lyons finished second for the second straight year while Jason Crump, the son of dour time Australian Champion Phil Crump finished third making it an all-Mildura rider podium.

The 1999 Australian Individual Speedway Championship was held at the Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura, Victoria on 13 February 1999.

Jordan Stewart is an Australian speedway rider, born 13 November 1998, Mildura, Australia. He currently rides for the Redcar Bears having joined them in 2018. In 2017 he won the Victorian State Under 21 Speedway Championship qualifying for the Australian Solo Championship in which he finished with 15 points after completion of the 4 rounds. In November 2018 he won the Jason Lyons Trophy at Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway.
