The 1991 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament took place from March 7–10, 1991 at the Memorial Gymnasium on Vanderbilt University’s campus located in Nashville, Tennessee. The Alabama Crimson Tide won the tournament and received the SEC’s automatic bid to the 1991 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament by defeating the Tennessee Volunteers by a score of 88–69.

Television coverage of the first round, the quarterfinals, and semifinals were regionally syndicated by Jefferson Pilot Sports, and the championship game was nationally televised on ABC.

Note: The Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team was not qualified to participate in either the SEC or NCAA tournaments of both 1990 and 1991 due to NCAA probation.

The Alabama Crimson Tide won the tournament and received the SEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament by defeating Florida by a score of 72–60 in the championship game on March 12, 1989.

The 2018–19 Tennessee Volunteers basketball team represented the University of Tennessee in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Volunteers were led by fourth-year head coach Rick Barnes. The team played its home games at Thompson–Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 31–6, 15–3 to finish in 2nd place. In the SEC Tournament, they defeated Mississippi State and Kentucky to make it to the championship. In the championship, they lost to Auburn. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they defeated Colgate in the First Round, Iowa in the Second Round before losing in the Sweet Sixteen to Purdue.

The team's head coach was Wimp Sanderson, who was in his eleventh season at Alabama. The team played their home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They finished the season with a record of 23–10, 12–6 in conference, good for fourth place.

The Crimson Tide won the regular season Southeastern Conference Championship, marking the team's first championship since 2002. They also won the SEC tournament, their first win in that competition since 1991 and the first time since 1987 that the program won both the regular season and tournament.
