It had always been Dan Partel's dream to stage a race that pitted drivers in equal cars racing for their country. Éric Georges Roger Hélary is a professional racing driver from Paris. His career has encompassed single seater formulae, endurance sports car racing, and touring cars. He won the French Formula Three Championship in 1990 and is best known for his win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1993. He was champion 2011 of Euro Racecar.

The 2004 Formula 3 Euro Series season was the second championship year of Europe's premier Formula Three series. The championship consisted of ten rounds – each with two races – held at a variety of European circuits. Each weekend consisted of 1 hour and 30 minutes of free practice on Friday – in either one or two sessions – and two 30-minute qualifying sessions. This was followed by a c.110 km race on Saturday and a c.80 km race on Sunday. Each qualifying session awarded one bonus point for pole position and each race awarded points for the top eight finishers, with ten points per win.

Hubert Stromberger is a former Austrian racing driver from Weitensfeld im Gurktal. He competed in one CART Championship Car race for Project Indy in 1995 at Road America where he started 27th and finished 16th. He also attempted to qualify at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course a month later but failed to make the race. Most of his driving success was in Formula Opel EFDA Nations Cup competition. He retired from competitive racing in 2001 and is now a racing instructor.
