The Americas Zone was one of the three zones of the regional Davis Cup competition in 1997.

In the Americas Zone there were four different tiers, called groups, in which teams competed against each other to advance to the upper tier.

Group I

Winners in Group I advanced to the World Group qualifying round, along with losing teams from the World Group first round. Teams who lost their respective ties competed in the relegation play-offs, with winning teams remaining in Group I, whereas teams who lost their play-offs were relegated to the Americas Zone Group II in 1998. Group II

Winners in Group II advanced to the Americas Zone Group I. Teams who lost their respective ties competed in the relegation play-offs, with winning teams remaining in Group II, whereas teams who lost their play-offs were relegated to the Americas Zone Group III in 1998. [2]

The 1997 Davis Cup was the 86th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 127 teams entered the competition, 16 in the World Group, 25 in the Americas Zone, 29 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 57 in the Europe/Africa Zone. A new Group VI of competition was added to each regional zone, providing another level of promotion and relegation within each zone. Madagascar, Tajikistan and Uganda made their first appearances in the tournament.

The 2008 Davis Cup was the 97th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. Sixteen teams participated in the World Group and more than one hundred others took part in different regional groups. The first matches were played on February 8–10. The final took place on November 21–23 at Estadio Polideportivo Islas Malvinas, Mar del Plata, Argentina, with Spain beating Argentina 3–1 to clinch their 3rd Davis Cup title.

The Americas Zone was one of three Zones of Davis Cup competition in 2004.

There are four groups in the American Zone of the Davis Cup. The two winners of Group I advances to the World Group play-offs while the last-placed team will be relegated to Group II the following year. The winner of Group II gets promoted to Group I next year, the two last-placed teams get relegated to Group III. The top two teams of Group III get promoted to Group II while the two weakest teams get relegated to Group IV. In Group IV no team can get relegated, the best two will get promoted to Group III.

The play-offs of the 2000 Fed Cup Americas Zone Group II were the final stages of the Group II Zonal Competition involving teams from the Americas. Using the positions determined in their pools, the fourteen teams faced off to determine their overall placing in the 2000 Fed Cup Americas Group II. The top two teams advanced to Group I next year.
