The 1999 Women's Australian Hockey League (AHL) was the 7th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held in various cities across Australia, and was contested from 25 June through to 18 July 1999. [1]

Contents

NSW Arrows won the tournament for the fourth time after defeating Canberra Strikers 3–0 in the final. QLD Scorchers finished in third place after defeating Adelaide Suns 1–0 in the third and fourth place playoff. [2]

Competition format

The 1999 Women's Australian Hockey League consisted of a single round robin format, followed by classification matches.

Teams from 7 of Australia's states and territories competed against one another throughout the pool stage. At the conclusion of the pool stage, the top four ranked teams progressed to the semi-finals.

Every match in the 1999 AHL needed an outright result. In the event of a draw, golden goal extra time was played out, and if the result was still a draw a penalty shoot-out was contested, with the winner receiving a bonus point.

The Tassie Van Demons were a nationally competing women's hockey team based in Tasmania, Australia. Coached by Ilene Carr, they competed in the Australian Hockey League. Some of the former coaches of the Van Demons include David Guest, Oliver Close, Zain Wright, and Ilene Carr.

The Women's Australian Hockey League is highest level field hockey tournament for women in Australia. Until 2016, the annually contested tournament comprised teams from the eight states and territories of Australia.

The 2011 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 19th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The finals week of the tournament was held in the Northern Territory city of Darwin.

The 2012 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 20th edition of women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held in the Western Australia city of Perth.

The 2013 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 21st edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held in the Tasmania city of Hobart.

The 2018 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 26th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The 2018 edition of the tournament was held between 6 – 28 October, and featured a new format from previous editions.

The 2008 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 16th edition women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held between 24 March – 5 April 2008.

The 2009 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 17th edition women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held between 27 February – 5 April 2009 at various venues, before culminating in Melbourne for the finals.

The 2010 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 18th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The finals week of the tournament was held in the South Australian city of Adelaide.

The 2006 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 14th edition women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held between 7 April – 14 May 2006.

The 2007 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 15th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The tournament was held between 23 February – 8 April 2007 at various venues, before culminating in Brisbane for the finals.
