Defending champion Gustavo Kuerten successfully defended his title, defeating Àlex Corretja in the final 6–7(3–7), 7–5, 6–2, 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2001 French Open.
Lleyton Hewitt defeated Pete Sampras in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–1, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2001 US Open. It was his first major title.
Goran Ivanišević defeated Patrick Rafter in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3, 2–6, 9–7 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2001 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first and only major title. Ivanišević became the first unseeded player to win the title since Boris Becker in 1985, and the first wild card to win a Major.
