The 2001 Calgary municipal election was held on October 15, 2001 to elect a Mayor and 14 Aldermen to Calgary City Council. Three term Calgary Aldermen Dave Bronconnier won 28 per cent of the vote defeating four term Aldermen Bev Longstaff and fifteen other candidates to become the 35th Mayor of Calgary.

An alderman is a member of a municipal assembly or council in many jurisdictions founded upon English law. The term may be titular, denoting a high-ranking member of a borough or county council, a council member chosen by the elected members themselves rather than by popular vote, or a council member elected by voters.
The Calgary City Council is the legislative governing body that represents the citizens of Calgary. The council consists of 15 members: the chief elected official, titled the mayor, and 14 councillors. Naheed Nenshi was elected mayor in October 2010 as the city's 36th. Each of the 14 councillors represent one of the city's 14 wards.
The 1922 municipal election was held December 11, 1922 to elect a mayor and six aldermen to sit on Edmonton City Council and three trustees to sit on the public school board. R Crossland, P M Dunne, Joseph Gariépy, and J J Murray were acclaimed to two-year terms on the separate school board.
The 2010 Calgary municipal election was held Monday, October 18, 2010 to elect a mayor and 14 aldermen to the city council, the seven trustees to the Calgary School District, and four of the seven trustees to the Calgary Catholic School District. Three incumbent separate school trustees had no challengers. A new mayor was to be elected, as the three term incumbent Dave Bronconnier did not seek re-election. In addition, a Commissioner, four members for the Public School Board, three members for the Separate School Board, three plebiscites on early closing and half holiday for businesses, payment for Aldermen, and Election of Commissioner for two years were on the ballot.
The 1927 Calgary municipal election was held on December 14, 1927 to elect six aldermen to sit on Calgary City Council. Additionally five members for the public school board. Mayor Frederick Ernest Osborne was acclaimed on close of nominations on December 7. The ballot also included four positions on the Public School Board and four questions put before the voters.
