The Suntory Championship was not held, because Júbilo Iwata was winner of both stages. At the end Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Consadole Sapporo were relegated to J2.

The Final of the 2011 Emperor's Cup was held at National Olympic Stadium in Shinjuku, Tokyo on 1 January 2012. The match was contested between two second division sides, Kyoto Sanga FC who were defeated by FC Tokyo in regulation time.

The 2022 Emperor's Cup was the 102nd edition of the annually contested cup, taking place from 21 May to 16 October. The final was played at the Nissan Stadium, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was the first time the stadium hosted an Emperor's Cup final since 2014.
