The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is a biennial nordic skiing event organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The World Championships was started in 1925 for men and opened for women's participation in 1954. World Championship events include nordic skiing's three disciplines: cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and nordic combined. From 1924 to 1939, the World Championships were held every year, including the Winter Olympics. After World War II, the World Championships were held every four years from 1950 to 1982. Since 1985, the World Championships have been held in odd-numbered years.

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 took place between 20 February and 3 March 2013 in Val di Fiemme, Italy, for the third time, the event having been hosted there previously in 1991 and 2003.

The 2011 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships were held in Otepää, Estonia from 26 January to 31 January 2011. It was the 34th Junior World Championships and the 6th Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing.

The FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships 2010 took place in Hinterzarten, Germany from 24 January to 1 February 2010. It was the 33rd Junior World Championships and the 5th Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing.

The FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships 2016 took place in Râșnov, Romania from 22 February to 28 February 2016. It was the 39th Junior World Championships and the 11th Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing.

The FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships 2008 took place in Mals, Italy and Zakopane, Poland from 23 February to 29 February 2008. It was the 31st Junior World Championships and the 3rd Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing.

The FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships 2007 took place in Planica, Slovenia and Tarvisio, Italy from 12 March to 18 March 2007. It was the 30th Junior World Championships and the second Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing. The 2022/23 FIS Cross-Country World Cup, organized by the International Ski Federation is the 42nd World Cup in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season started on 25 November 2022 in Ruka, Finland and will conclude on 26 March 2023 in Lahti, Finland.
