2007 is a dark minimal techno album by Matthew Dear under his pseudonym of False. It is Dear's first mix album.
Matthew Dear began developing the 2007 album due to unreleased material beginning to build up on his hard drives. [5] Disliking having unused tracks, Dear talked with his label Minus about using the material to create an album that was to be different from his previous works. [5] The album was developed as a dark and rhythmless mix, which was "a big turn on to complete the album" for Dear. [5] Dear describes the process of creating 2007 as like creating two separate albums: first focusing on creating individual tracks and then working on bringing them together as a seamless work. [5] Dear titled the album 2007 due to it being completed in said year, to give it a stamp of timeliness, and to avoid applying a forced narrative to the music. [5]
A vinyl single was released of "Fed on Youth", with a B-side of "Face the Rain".
No matter how many times you listen to 2007, you just can't quite get a hold of what’s going on or where you will end up. One day you need volume to ‘get it’, the next intimacy and quiet. Another day it's all too slow and without flesh, the next it is pure sculptured genius.
Resident Advisor review
Resident Advisor —an online magazine with a focus on electronic music—named 2007 as the 10th best album of 2007. [6] In their review of the album, RA described 2007 as "mystifying" and praised it for "dodging every effort to be understood." [7] XLR8R called the album a "pinnacle of minimal-techno artistry", [8] and Dusted Magazine praised its "perfect balance between austerity and propulsion." [9] However, Hot Press criticised 2007 for not capturing the zeitgeist of the actual year 2007. [10]

Matthew Dear is an American electronic music producer and DJ.
Leave Luck to Heaven is the first studio album by Matthew Dear. It was released on Spectral Sound, a sub-label of Ghostly International, in 2003.

Jimmy Edgar is an American conceptual artist and sound designer from Detroit, Michigan. Influenced by minimalism, Yves Klein and Immaterialism, early in their career Jimmy released two hip-hop glitch albums under the names Michaux and Kristuit Salu and Morris Nightingale. Their first solo album Color Strip (2006) came out on Warp Records after they signed to the label at age 18. This release was followed by XXX (2010) on !K7 Records in 2010. After their last solo LP Majenta (2012), Jimmy has released several EPS on Jimmys own imprint New Reality Now, often designing the album covers with Pilar Zeta.
Ali Shirazinia, commonly known by his stage name Dubfire, is an Iranian American house and techno DJ and producer. Prior to his solo career, Dubfire made up half of the duo Deep Dish. Dubfire's style is noticeably different from that of Deep Dish, consisting of techno rather than progressive house.

Cobblestone Jazz is a Canadian trio based in Victoria, British Columbia, known for their jazz improvisation-influenced approach to making electronic music. The band has been described as "a 21st century jam band, a 'Plastikman-meets-the-Grateful Dead' juggernaut." The band consists of Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate, and Tyger Dhula. Daniel Gardner is a Canadian electronic musician known better by his artist name Frivolous. Born in 1980, near Vancouver, B.C., Gardner received early training in classical piano, but found his calling when he undertook Electronic Music studies. He moved to Montreal in the early 2000s and then to Berlin in 2005. In 2012, Gardner returned to Canada's west coast, while continuing to maintain his Berlin ties and tour internationally.
Serenity is a collaborative album by DJ Achim Brandenburg, known by his stage name as Prosumer, and producer Murat Tepeli. The record also features vocals from Elf Biçer on some tracks. It was released on the label Ostgut Ton in January 2008 to generally positive reviews from critics, who favored the duo for making use of their old Chicago house sound while still managing to sound contemporary.
