The 2008 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the 13th Asian Championship, which was taking place from 17 to 26 February 2008 in Isfahan, Iran. The championship was held in Isfahan's Pirouzi Arena and acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia.

Team qualified for the 2009 World Championship |
The 1999 World Men's Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the World Championship in team handball. It was held in Egypt, from 1 to 15 June, in the cities of Cairo, Ismailia and Port Said. Sweden won the championship.
The 1997 World Men's Handball Championship was the 15th team handball World Championship. It was held in Kumamoto, Japan and was the first World Championship not played in a European country. Russia won the championship.
The 1997 World Women's Handball Championship took place in Germany 30 November – 14 December 1997. It was the first tournament with 24 teams. Denmark won its first title. And Denmark only defeat in the championship was by Macedonia.
The 2002 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the tenth Asian Championship. It took place from 10 to 19 February 2002 in Isfahan, Iran. The championship was held in Isfahan's Pirouzi Arena. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2003 World Men's Handball Championship.
The 2010 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was held in Austria from 19 to 31 January, in the cities of Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz and Wiener Neustadt.
The 2009 Men's Youth World Handball Championship took place in Tunisia from July 20–July 31.
The 2009 Men's Junior World Handball Championship took place in Egypt from August 5–19.
The 2010 Women's Junior World Handball Championship took place in South Korea from July 17 to July 31.
The 2011 Men's Youth World Handball Championship was the fourth edition of the world event for youth handballers, which was held in Argentina between August 10–20, 2011. In accordance with the IHF regulations, only players born on or after 1 January 1992 were eligible to enter the competition. The minimum age for the participation was 16.
The 2012 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the 15th edition of the Asian Men's Handball Championship, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 26 January to 5 February 2012. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship in Spain.
The 2012 Pan American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2012, was the 15th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 18 to 24 June 2012 in Burzaco, Almirante Brown Partido, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. A decision was announced during the 2011 Pan American Games that the tournament will consist of 12 teams. As the winner of those Pan American Games, Argentina was selected as the host.
The 2012 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 18th edition of the tournament and took place in the Czech Republic from 1 to 14 July.
Futsal for the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held in two venues, at the Songdo Global Campus, and the Dongbu Students Gymnasium. Matches took place from 26 June to 6 July 2013, with a break on 2 July.

The 2014 IHF Women's Youth World Championship was the fifth edition of the tournament and took place in Macedonia from 20 July to 3 August 2014.
The men's football tournament at the 2014 Asian Games was held in Incheon and three other cities in South Korea from 14 September to 2 October 2014. The opening match was played 5 days prior to the opening ceremony. The men's football tournament consisted of 29 teams.
The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.

The Asian Women's Club League Handball Championship, organized by the Asian Handball Federation, is the official competition for women's handball clubs of Asia crowning the Asian champions.
