The 2008 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the 13th Asian Championship, which was taking place from 17 to 26 February 2008 in Isfahan, Iran. The championship was held in Isfahan's Pirouzi Arena and acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia.

The 2012 Pan American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2012, was the 15th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 18 to 24 June 2012 in Burzaco, Almirante Brown Partido, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. A decision was announced during the 2011 Pan American Games that the tournament will consist of 12 teams. As the winner of those Pan American Games, Argentina was selected as the host.

The 2012 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 18th edition of the tournament and took place in the Czech Republic from 1 to 14 July.

Futsal for the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held in two venues, at the Songdo Global Campus, and the Dongbu Students Gymnasium. Matches took place from 26 June to 6 July 2013, with a break on 2 July.
