The following are the results and details of the Derry senior Gaelic football team's competitive games in 2008. Details of the 2008 Derry club competitions are also shown.
Derry had a relatively successful 2008 Dr. McKenna Cup, winning all three groups games and reaching the final, before losing to Down. Manager Paddy Crozier used the competition to try out young promising players, [1] such as Enda Lynn who won the TG4 Man of the Match award against Armagh on his inter-county debut. [2] Paddy Bradley ended the competition as Derry's top scorer with 2-15.

Derry won the 2008 National League, their first League success since 1999/2000 and sixth in total. They finished top of the group stage standings and along with Kerry qualified for the final, played in Parnell Park. Derry defeated Kerry on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-09, with Fergal Doherty grabbing the man of the match award. [4] [5] As in the McKenna Cup, Paddy Bradley ended the competition as Derry's top scorer with 1-39 (42). Indeed, this was third overall in Division 1, behind Kerry's Bryan Sheehan (1-41 (44)) and Galway's Michael Meehan (4-31 (43)).

The Monaghan County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Monaghan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Monaghan and the Monaghan county football and hurling teams. Separate county boards are responsible for the promotion & development of handball, camogie and ladies' football within the county, as well as having responsibility for their representative county players/teams. The current team sponsor of Monaghan GAA is Investec.
The 2006 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship began on Sunday 7 May 2006. The 2006 championship used the same "Qualifier" system that was used in 2005. Tyrone were the defending champions, but were knocked out relatively early in the competition by Laois. Kerry won their 34th Sam Maguire beating Mayo in a repeat of the 2004 final.
The Ulster Senior Football Championship is a GAA inter-county competition for gaelic football teams in the Irish province of Ulster. It is organised by the Ulster Council and begins in early May. The final is usually played on the third Sunday in July.
Patrick Bradley is a sportsman from Northern Ireland, who plays Gaelic football for Derry. With the team he has won two National League titles, and individually an All Stars Award for his performance in the 2007 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
Eoin Bradley is a Gaelic footballer and association footballer from Kilrea, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, who plays for Glenullin GAC, with whom he won a Derry Senior Football Championship, and played for the Derry GAA team, with whom he won a National League title. He also plays association football as a striker for Coleraine.
The 2007 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, was a Gaelic football competition in Ireland, and was the most significant and prestigious competition in the sport held that year. It began on 13 May 2007, with the final game took place for Sunday, 16 September. Kerry were the defending champions, as well as the most successful team in the competition. Donegal entered the Championship as the unbeaten National League champions, as well as having been runners-up to Tyrone in the 2007 Dr. McKenna Cup.
Kevin McCloy is a Gaelic footballer from Northern Ireland, who plays for Derry, with whom he has won a National League title. He also won an All Star for his performances in the 2007 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
Fergal Doherty was a gaelic footballer from Bellaghy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He played for Derry, with whom he won a National League title. He was nominated for an All Star four times but narrowly missed out on each occasion.
Gerard O'Kane is a Gaelic footballer from Derry, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He plays for Derry, with whom he has won a National League title.
John Deighan is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Derry, with whom he has won a National League title. He plays his club football for Limavady Wolfhounds GAC. He plays as goalkeeper for Derry.
Paddy Crozier is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player who managed Derry between 2006 and 2008, guiding the county to a National League title. He has also managed a number of club teams and Derry underage teams. Crozier currently manages Omagh St. Enda's. He was a distant relation of former Derry manager Eamonn Coleman.
Joe Diver is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Derry, with whom he has won a National League title. Diver plays his club football for Bellaghy Wolfe Tones, and won the Derry Senior Football Championship with the club.
