The 2008 KNSB Dutch Allround Championships in speed skating were held at the Kardinge ice stadium in Groningen, Netherlands on 27 and 28 December 2007. Although the event took place in December 2007 this was the 2008 edition as it is part of the 2007-08 speed skating season.

Contents

Sven Kramer defended his 2007 title by winning all four distances. In the women's tournament Ireen Wüst won the tournament with only winning the opening 500 m, young gun Marrit Leenstra won the 1500 m and veteran Renate Groenewold the 3000 m and 5000 m.

Renate Titzia Groenewold is a Dutch former long track speed skater and road bicycle racer.

Sven Kramer Dutch speed skater

Sven Kramer is a Dutch long track speed skater who has won an all-time record nine World Allround Championships as well as a record ten European Allround Championships. He is the Olympic champion of the 5000 meters at the Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics, and won a record 20 gold medals at the World Single Distance Championships; eight in the 5000 meters, five in the 10,000 meters, and seven in the team pursuit. Kramer is the current world record holder in the team pursuit, and broke the world records in the 5000 meter and 10,000 meter events three times. By winning the 2010 World Allround Championship, Kramer became the first speed skater in history to win four consecutive world allround championships, and eight consecutive international allround championships. He was undefeated in the 18 international allround championships he participated in from the 2006/2007 season until the 2016/2017 season. From November 2007 to March 2009 he was ranked first in the Adelskalender, but despite his dominance as an all-round skater he has since been overtaken on that list by Shani Davis and, more recently, by his team mate Patrick Roest.

Hendrik ("Henk") van der Grift is a retired Dutch speed skater.

The 2007 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships were the venue where the Dutch single distance champions in speed skating were crowned. Although the event took place from 3 November until 5 November 2006 this was the 2007 edition as it is part of the 2006–07 speed skating season. The competition took place at De Smelt sports hall in Assen.

The Dutch Single Distance Championships of speed skating, organised by the KNSB, is the official Dutch championship to determine the Dutch champion over a single distance, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Allround Championships, which determine the Dutch allround champion. The single distance championships date back to 1987, and is often used as qualification races for World Cup and Olympic races. The skaters compete for medals in the five Olympic distances: 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10000 metres.

The 2007 KNSB Dutch Allround Championships in speed skating were held in the Thialf stadium in Heerenveen, Netherlands, on 23 and 24 December 2006. Although the event took place in December 2006 this was the 2007 edition as it is part of the 2006–07 speed skating season.

The 2008 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships were held at the Thialf ice stadium in Heerenveen from Friday October 26 until Sunday October 28, 2007. Although the tournament was held in 2007 it was the 2008 edition as it is part of the 2007/2008 speed skating season.

Koen Verweij Dutch speed skater

Koen Verweij is a Dutch speed skater and inline speed skater. At the end of the skating season 2008–09 he made a transfer from the Jong Oranje team of the national skating union (KNSB) to the commercial team of TVM.

The Dutch Allround Championships of speed skating, organised by the KNSB, is the official Dutch championship to determine the Dutch Allround champion, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships, which determines a Dutch champion for each distance. The Allround distance championships date back to 1901 for men and 1955 for women.

Wieteke Cramer speed skater

Wieteke Harmanna Cramer is a speed skater from the Netherlands who won bronze allround medals at the 2001 European Championships and the 2004 World Championships. She also won two national titles, in the 1500 m (2000) and allround (2006). She finished in second place allround in 2002, and in third place in the 3000 m (2000), 5000 m (2001) and allround (2004).

Sofya Kondakova was a Soviet female speed skater. She won a gold medal at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships for Women in 1956, and bronze medals in 1954 and 1955.

Marcel Bosker is a Dutch long track speed skater.
