The 2013 KNSB Dutch Sprint Championships in speed skating were held at the Kardinge ice stadium in Groningen, Netherlands. Stefan Groothuis and Margot Boer were the defending champions. Stefan Groothuis succeeded his title but Margot Boer [1] lost hers to Marrit Leenstra. Stefan Groothuis got his 6th Dutch Sprint Championship title. [2]

Coen de Koning Dutch speed skater

Coen de Koning was a speed skater and cyclist. He started his sports career as a cyclist, but switched to speed skating and became the second Dutch speed skater to win a world title, in 1905. He finished second in 500 m, and won the 1500, 5000 and 10,000 m events. De Koning won the national all-around title in 1903, 1905 and 1912, and set national records in the 500 m and 10,000 m in 1905; these records stood until 1926 and 1929. De Koning also set a world record in one-hour skating, at 32,370 m in 1906, and won the Elfstedentocht in 1912 and 1917.

The 2007 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships were the venue where the Dutch single distance champions in speed skating were crowned. Although the event took place from 3 November until 5 November 2006 this was the 2007 edition as it is part of the 2006–07 speed skating season. The competition took place at De Smelt sports hall in Assen.

Stefan Groothuis Dutch speed skater

Stefan Groothuis is a retired Dutch speed skater. He is the World Sprint Champion for 2012 and the gold medal winner in the 1000 metres at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 2008 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships were held at the Thialf ice stadium in Heerenveen from Friday October 26 until Sunday October 28, 2007. Although the tournament was held in 2007 it was the 2008 edition as it is part of the 2007/2008 speed skating season.

The 2009 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships will be held from Friday October 31 until Sunday November 2, 2008 at the Thialf ice stadium in Heerenveen. Although the championships are held in 2008 it is the 2009 edition as it is part of the 2008/2009 speed skating season.

The Dutch Allround Championships of speed skating, organised by the KNSB, is the official Dutch championship to determine the Dutch Allround champion, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships, which determines a Dutch champion for each distance. The Allround distance championships date back to 1901 for men and 1955 for women.

Jorien Voorhuis Dutch speed skater

Jorien Voorhuis is a Dutch speedskater. Until season 2009/2012 she skated with the VPZ-team. Before season 2010/2011 Voorhuis changed to TVM. Her favorite distances are 1500 and 3000 meters.

The 2005 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships are the venue where the Dutch single distance champions in speed skating are crowned. Although the event took place from 5 until 7 November 2004 this is the 2005 edition as it is part of the 2005-06 speed skating season. Venue is De Smelt sports hall in Assen.

Netherlands at the 2014 Winter Olympics Sporting event delegation

The Netherlands competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7 to 23 February 2014. The Dutch team was the largest Dutch delegation at a Winter Olympics, with 41 competitors that participated in bobsleigh, short track speed skating, snowboarding, and speed skating.

The 2014 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships were held at the Thialf ice stadium in Heerenveen from 25 October until 27 October 2013. Although the tournament was held in 2013 it was the 2014 edition as it is part of the 2013/2014 speed skating season.

The 56th edition of the Women's World Allround Speed Skating Championships was held on 3 and 4 March 1995 at the Savalen kunstisbane in Savalen, Norway.

The 56th edition of the Men's World Allround Speed Skating Championships was held on 11 and 12 February 1995 at the Ice Rink Piné, Baselga di Pinè in Italy.

The 55th edition of the Men's World Allround Speed Skating Championships was held on 11 and 12 March 1994 at the Ruddalens Idrottsplats in Göteborg, Sweden.
