The 2008 Martyr's Memorial B-Division League was the 2008 season of the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. A total of 9 teams competed in the league. [1] The season began on 9 September 2008 and concluded on 29 September February 2006. Swayambhu Club won the league and was promoted along with Himalayan Sherpa Club, Bansbari Club, and Koilapani Polestar Club. [2] Being based in Nawalparasi, Koilapani would therefore become the first ever team from outside the Kathmandu Valley to be promoted to the A-Division League. [3]

Controversy

On 18 September 2008, in a match against Kathmandu Club, [1] players and officials of Kumari Youth Club attacked and beat referee Sachin Amatya, for which the match was abandoned in the 34th minute. All Nepal Football Association sanctioned multiple of Kumari Youth Club's players and officials, including suspension of the team's captain Bikash Gurung for two years. [5]

Sagar Thapa is a footballer from Nepal, and was until October 2015 the captain of the national team. He made his first appearance for the Nepal national football team in 2003. Since then, Thapa has represented his country in 50 international matches which puts him behind only Bal Gopal Maharjan and Upendra Man Singh. In October 2015, five members of the All Nepal Football Association, including Sagar Thapa and Sandip Rai, were arrested for match fixing. He was supposed to take 5 lakhs per fixed match.

The season began on 21 August 2016 and concluded on 5 October 2016. It was the first B division league held since 2014 due to the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. All matches were played at Halchowk Stadium and the ANFA Complex.

The 2018–19 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League season, also known as Pulsar Martyr's Memorial A-Division League for sponsorship reasons, was the 42nd edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 16 teams competed in the league. The season began on 29 September 2018 and concluded on 8 January 2019. It was the first top division league held since the 2015 National League due to aftermath of the 2015 Nepal earthquake. On 16 September 2018, it was decided that there will be no relegation, however the two bottom placed teams would have two and one points deducted respectively in the following season.

The 2019–20 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League season, also known as the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A-Division League for sponsorship reasons, was the 43rd edition of the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 18 teams competed in the league. The season began on 14 December 2019 and concluded on 15 February 2020.
