The Sun Devils played their home games at Packard Stadium, and played as part of the Pacific-10 Conference. The team was coached by Pat Murphy in his fifteenth season as head coach at Arizona State.
The Sun Devils reached the College World Series, their twenty-first appearance in Omaha, where they finished tied for third place after recording a pair of wins against North Carolina and losing two to eventual runner-up Texas.

Patrick Thomas Murphy is an American baseball coach and manager who is the manager for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously served as the interim manager of the San Diego Padres and head coach for college baseball teams including Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame.
Frank Joseph Kush was an American football player and coach. As a player he earned All-American honors in 1952 as a defensive lineman playing for the Michigan State Spartans.
The Arizona State Sun Devils are the athletic teams that represent Arizona State University. ASU has nine men's and eleven women's varsity teams competing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The mascot was adopted in 1946; earlier nicknames were the Normals and later, the Bulldogs. The Sun Devil mascot, Sparky, was designed by Bert Anthony, a former Disney illustrator. Tim Esmay is an American baseball coach. He is the former head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team. He was the head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team from prior to the 2010 season until the end of the 2014 season, when he announced his resignation. Esmay is an Arizona State alumnus, and he played baseball there from 1986–1987. After graduating from Arizona State in 1987, Esmay served as an assistant at Arizona State, Grand Canyon, and Utah. He was Utah's head coach from 1997–2004, before he was hired as an assistant at Arizona State prior to the 2005 season.
