The Cannons Lacrosse Club are a professional men's field lacrosse team in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Formerly based in Boston, Massachusetts, they played in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) as the Boston Cannons from their inaugural 2001 season to 2020. The team's home field was Veterans Memorial Stadium in nearby Quincy. In the MLL, the team won two Steinfeld Cup championship games in 2011 and 2020, the latter being the MLL's final championship. The Cannons joined the PLL in 2020 following the MLL–PLL merger and were rebranded as the Cannons Lacrosse Club.

The 1960 National Football League Draft in which NFL teams take turns selecting amateur college American football players and other first-time eligible players, was held at the Warwick Hotel in Philadelphia on November 30, 1959. Many players, including half of those drafted in the first round, signed with teams in the newly created American Football League, including the first overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon. At the time of the draft, the Cardinals were still the Chicago Cardinals; they moved to St. Louis in March 1960. The Dallas Cowboys were enfranchised in January 1960 after the draft.
Bradford Cannon, the son of Dr. Walter Bradford Cannon, was a pioneer in the field of reconstructive surgery, specialising in burn victims. He was the first chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and is credited with saving the lives of thousands of soldiers maimed during World War II. As a young doctor, he used a new method he developed with Oliver Cope to treat survivors of the Cocoanut Grove fire in November, 1942.
This is the 8th season that the Eastern Conference team called the Boston Cannons play in their home games at Harvard Stadium. They were selected on host the 8th annual Major League Lacrosse Steinfeld Cup championship weekend at Harvard Stadium on August 23 to August 24. The opening game of the season is at home against New Jersey Pride.

The 1962 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team represented Texas Technological College—now known as Texas Tech University—as a member of the Southwest Conference (SWC) during the 1962 NCAA University Division football season. In their second season under head coach J. T. King, the Red Raiders compiled a 1–9 record, finished in last out of eight teams in the SWC, and were outscored by opponents by a combined total of 250 to 83. The team's statistical leaders included Doug Cannon with 274 passing yards, Roger Gill with 379 rushing yards, and David Parks with 399 receiving yards. The team played its home games at Clifford B. and Audrey Jones Stadium.
Marcus Darell Cannon is an American football offensive tackle for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). Prior to the 2011 NFL Draft, Cannon was considered one of the top offensive tackle prospects and was selected by the New England Patriots in the fifth round with the 138th pick of the draft. He played college football at TCU.

James Barrett was an American colonel in the Concord, Massachusetts militia during the Battles of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolutionary War. His farm was the storage site of all the town of Concord's militia gunpowder, weapons and two pairs of prized bronze cannons, according to secret British intelligence.
The 1994 Carquest Bowl was a college football postseason bowl game between the Boston College Eagles and the Virginia Cavaliers. This was the first year of sponsorship by Carquest, which continued until 1997.
The 2017 Boston Cannons season was the seventeenth season for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. The Cannons came in trying to improve upon their 8-6 record in 2016. Although they were one of seven teams tied upon the top of the standings with an 8-6 record, the Cannons were one of three teams not given a playoff berth following tiebreaker procedures.
