The 2009 Kor Royal Cup was the 76th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners and runners-up of the previous season's Thailand Premier League competitions. The match was contested at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 1 March 2009, and contested by 2008 Thailand Premier League champions PEA, and Chonburi as the runners-up of the 2008 Thailand Premier League. The game ended in a 1–0 winning for Chonburi – the goal coming from Suree Sukha.

Chonburi F.C. association football club in Thailand

Chonburi Football Club is a Thai professional football club based in the city of Chonburi, Chonburi Province and playing in the top division in Thai football, the Thai League 1. The team lifted the league title in 2007 which became the most successful season in their history.

Thai League 1

The Thai League 1, commonly known as the T1, is a Thai professional league for Football Association of Thailand clubs. At the top of the Thai football league system, it is the country's premier football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Thai League 2. The Thai League is a corporation in which the 16 member clubs act as shareholders. Seasons run from February to October, with teams playing 30 games each with a total of 240 games in the season. It is sponsored by Toyota and therefore officially known as the Toyota Thai League. In the Thai League, most of the games are played during Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The 2008 Thai Premier League had 16 teams. It was the twelfth since its establishment. The first matches of the season were played on 18 February 2008, and the season ended on 11 October 2008. Three teams would be relegated to Thailand Division 1 League. The Champion in this season would qualify for the AFC Champions League 2009 qualification stage and the runner-up would be enter the AFC Cup 2009. The official name of the league at this time was Thailand Premier League.

2006 Thailand Premier League

The 2006 Thai Premier League had 12 teams. No clubs would be relegated as the league would be expanded to 16 teams for the 2007 season. Two teams promoted from the rival Pro League and two clubs from Thailand Division 1 League. The official name of the league at this time was Thailand Premier League.

The Thai Premier League 2009 was the thirteenth season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1996. A total of 16 teams competed in the league, with PEA FC as the defending champions.

The top 4 ranked teams of 2009 will compete in a "Super Cup" competition starting on the 22nd of December. The four teams will form a group and play matches in the Suphachalasai Stadium. The champion of the competition wil receive 1,500,000 baht.

The 2010 Kor Royal Cup was the 75th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 20 February 2010, and contested by 2009 Thai Premier League champions Muangthong United, and Thai Port as the winners of the 2009 Thai FA Cup.

Kor Royal Cup stampede

The Kor Royal Cup stampede was a human crush that occurred on 20 February 2010 at Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand during a Kor Royal Cup match between Muangthong United and Thai Port.

The 2010 Thai FA Cup Final was the 15th final of the Thailand's domestic football cup competition, the FA Cup. The final was played at Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok on 28 November 2010. The match was contested by Muangthong United, who beat Rajnavy Rayong 1–0 in their semi-final, and Chonburi who beat Royal Thai Army 2–0 in the match. After Therdsak Chaiman opened the scoring in 44th minute, Datsakorn Thonglao equalised in the 59th minute before the draw and Chonburi beat Muangthong United at the extra time 2–1 by Pipob On-Mo.

The match was played at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 30 January 2011, and contested by 2010 Thai Premier League champions Muangthong United, and Chonburi as the winners of the 2010 Thai FA Cup.

The 2012 Kor Royal Cup was the 77th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 11 March 2012, and contested by 2011 Thai Premier League champions Buriram United, and 2011 Thai Premier League runners-up Chonburi, as Buriram also won the 2011 Thai FA Cup.

The 2013 Kor Royal Cup was the 78th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 23 February 2013, and contested by the 2012 Thai Premier League champions Muangthong United, and Buriram United, the winner of the 2012 Thai FA Cup.

The 2014 Kor Royal Cup was the 79th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Suphanburi Stadium, Suphanburi and contested by 2013 Thai Premier League champions Buriram United, and 2013 Thai Premier League runners-up Muangthong United, as Buriram also won the 2013 Thai FA Cup. On January 21, with less than two week before the start of the tournament, the 2014 Kor Royal Cup were moved from the capital Bangkok to Suphanburi because the 2013–14 Thai political crisis.

2015 Buriram United F.C. season

The 2015 season is Buriram United's fourth season in the Thai Premier League. The club enters the season as the TPL Champion, and will participate in the Thai Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Kor Royal Cup and the AFC Champions League. The season covers the period from 20 December 2014 to 26 December 2015.

The 2015 Kor Royal Cup was the 80th Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, on 24 January 2015, and contested by 2014 Thai Premier League champions Buriram United, and Bangkok Glass as the winner of the 2014 Thai FA Cup.

The 2016 Kor Royal Cup was the 81st Kor Royal Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Thai Premier League and Thai FA Cup competitions. The match was played at Supachalasai Stadium, Bangkok and contested by 2015 Thai Premier League champions Buriram United, and 2015 Thai Premier League runners-up Muangthong United, as Buriram also won the 2015 Thai FA Cup. This match was the last edition of Kor Royal Cup, continued by Thailand Champions Cup in 2017.

The 2016 season is SCG Muangthong United's 8th season in the Thai Premier League since 2009. The club enters the season as the Thai Premier League Champion, and will participate in the Thai League, FA Cup, League Cup, Kor Royal Cup, Toyota Premier Cup and the AFC Champions League.
