2009 Korean Series

The 2009 Korean Series was the 27th edition of Korea Baseball Organization's championship series. The best-of-seven playoff is played between the KIA Tigers (1st) and the SK Wyverns (2nd). The KIA Tigers won the series in seven games. [1]

Kia Tigers are a South Korean professional baseball team founded in 1982 and based in the southwestern city of Gwangju. Until 2001, they were known as the Haitai Tigers. Their home stadium is Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju.

The SK Wyverns won the series in six games, after becoming the first team in Korean Series history to claim victory after losing the first two games. The series was also notable for the inability of teams to win at their home grounds and for some unsavory and aggressive incidents between the two teams that marred the first three games.

The 2008 Korean Series began on Monday, 26 October, at the Munhak Baseball Stadium in Incheon. It featured the SK Wyverns, who had claimed home ground advantage by finishing in first place at the end of the season, and the Doosan Bears, who had finished second and had defeated the Samsung Lions in a best-of-7 playoff series to advance to the next round. The SK Wyverns won the series in five games, after defeating Doosan four games straight after dropping the opening game. It pitted the final 2 teams from the 2007 Korean Series in a rematch.

The K League All-Star Game is an annual association football exhibition match organised by the South Korean K League. The inaugural match was held in 1991.

Yang Hyeon-jong is a Korean professional baseball pitcher for the Kia Tigers of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers. He made his MLB debut with Texas in 2021. He won the Korean Series in 2009 and 2017, and was the Korean Series MVP and KBO MVP in 2017 as well.

The Best-of-7 2011 Korean Series began on Tuesday, October 25th, at the Daegu Baseball Stadium in Incheon. It featured the Samsung Lions, who had claimed homefield advantage by finishing in first place at the end of the regular season, and the SK Wyverns, who finished second during the regular season and defeated the Lotte Giants in a best-of-5 playoff series to advance to the Finals. The Samsung Lions won the series in five games to collect their fifth Korean Series championship.
