Tour of Azerbaijan 2009 is the 24th round of Tour of Iran (Azerbaijan), which took between 15 May and 21 May 2009 in Iranian Azerbaijan and in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichivan. The tour had 6 stages in which Ahad Kazemi from Iran won in first place in over all classification of the tour. [1]

Azerbaijanis or Azeris (آذریلر‎), also known as Azerbaijani Turks, are a Turkic people living mainly in northwestern Iran as well as a smaller population in the sovereign Republic of Azerbaijan, with a mixed cultural heritage, including Caucasian, Iranian and Turkic elements. They are the second-most numerous ethnic group among the Turkic-speaking peoples after Turkish people and are predominantly Shia Muslims. They comprise the largest ethnic group in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the second-largest ethnic group in neighboring Iran and Georgia. They speak the Azerbaijani language, belonging to the Oghuz branch of the Turkic languages.

Azerbaijan–Israel relations Bilateral relations

Azerbaijan and Israel have engaged in close cooperation since 1992. Azerbaijan is one of the few majority Muslim countries alongside Turkey, Egypt, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Sudan, Kosovo, Morocco, Albania, Gulf countries and the other former Soviet republics to develop bilateral strategic and economic relations with Israel. Hossein Askari Iranian professional racing cyclist

Hossein Askari is an Iranian former professional racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2005 and 2016 for the Giant Asia Racing Team, Tabriz Petrochemical Team, Ayandeh Continental Team and Pishgaman–Giant teams. During his career, Askari was suspended for one year for doping in 2013 and 2014.

Azerbaijan participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, making their second appearance at the contest. Arash and Aysel Teymurzadeh represented Azerbaijan at the contest as a duo after Teymurzadeh was internally selected by the Azeri broadcaster, İctimai Televiziya və Radio Yayımları Şirkəti (İTV). Initially Arash was the author of the selected song and was later invited to perform it alongside Teymurzadeh.

Tour of Azerbaijan (Iran)

Tour of Azerbaijan (Iran), also known as the Tour of Iranian Azerbaijan or Azerbaijan Tour is an annual multiple stage road bicycle racing held in Iran since 1986, named after Iranian Azerbaijan. It is a UCI 2.1 category race and is part of the UCI Asia Tour. Tour of Iran (Azerbaijan) is the most prestigious cycling tour in Iran and it is the oldest standing cycling tour in Asia and Middle East.

Tour of Iran (Azerbaijan) 2016 is the 31st edition of Tour of Iran (Azerbaijan) which is took place between May 13 till May 18, 2016 in Iranian Azerbaijan. The tour had 6 stages and the total length is 1005 km. In 31st stage of the tour 21 teams from four continents participate. For the first time in the history of Tour of Azerbaijan a cycling team from United States, Team Illuminate, participated in the tournament.
