The 2010 Mexican League season was the 86th season in the history of the Mexican League. It was contested by 16 teams, evenly divided in North and South zones. The season started on 16 March with the match between 2009 season champions Saraperos de Saltillo and Acereros de Monclova and ended on 26 August with the last game of the Serie del Rey, where the Saraperos defeated Pericos de Puebla to win their second championship in a row. Contents

The Mexican League joined the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Mexican War of Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. Both zones were renamed: the North zone to Francisco I. Madero and the South zone to Miguel Hidalgo; the championship series, Serie del Rey, was also renamed to Serie del Bicentenario (Bicentennial Series). [2]

They have won three championships. The 1979 Saraperos were recognized as one of the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time.

The Serie del Rey is the annual championship series of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol to determine a champion at the end of each season since 1970. The champions from each division, Norte and Sur, compete in a best-of-seven series, with the winner being awarded the Copa de Zaachila. Previously, the league champion was the winner of the most games in a round robin tournament. The series is named in reference to baseball being called the king of sports.

The Copa de Zaachila is presented each year by the President of the Mexican Baseball League to the team that wins the Serie del Rey. Recent trophy designs contain the design of a china cup found in the archeological zone of Zaachila, Oaxaca.
