The 2011 1. divisjon (women) season kicked off on 25 April 2011, and the final round was played on 23 October 2011.

The 1. divisjon is the second highest division in women's football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. Between 1984 and 1995 it served as the first tier. 1. divisjon was replaced as a first tier by the Eliteserien which in turn was replaced by the Toppserien in 2000. It continued as a second tier from 1996 and onwards.

Vålerenga were promoted to the 2011 Toppserien as 1. divisjon winners, along with Fart who finished second. This was the first time Vålerenga were playing in Toppserien, while Fart returned to the top division for the first time since 2008.

Vålerenga Fotball Damer

Vålerenga Fotball Damer is the women's football branch of Vålerenga Fotball. The team plays in Toppserien, Norway.

The 2011 Toppserien is the twenty-fifth season of top-tier women's football in Norway since its establishment in 1987. A total of twelve teams contested the league, consisting of ten who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the 1. divisjon. The season started on 2 April 2011 and will end on 29 October 2011.

FL Fart

Fotballaget Fart is a Norwegian football club based in Vang outside Hamar. The club is most noted for their women's team which played in Toppserien in 2008 and 2012. Their home matches are played at Fartbana. Norway international footballers Thorstein Helstad and Kristin Bekkevold started their careers at Fart.

Before the season started, Orkla withdrew their team, and was replaced by Alta. Manglerud Star were bankrupted 4 April 2011, and didn't play any matches. [1]

Alta IF association football club

Alta Idrettsforening is a sports club from Alta, Norway. The club is most known for its association football department, which played in the 1. divisjon until 2014. Alta currently plays in 2. divisjon, the third tier of the Norwegian football league system. The club was newly promoted for the 2008 season; its last stint up to that time in the division came in 2005, when they finished last. The team finished 14th in the 2009 season. In 2012 a new relegation came after finishing last once again. It took them only one year to come back.

IL Manglerud Star

Idrettslaget Manglerud Star is a Norwegian alliance sports club from Manglerud, Oslo. It has sections for association football and ice hockey.

Lyn 1896 Fotballklubb is a Norwegian football club and a department of the sports club Ski- og Fotballklubben Lyn based in Oslo, whose members also participate in Nordic skiing and orienteering. The 2014 Toppserien is the twenty-eighth season of top-tier women's football in Norway since its establishment in 1987. A total of 12 teams are contesting the league, eleven returning from the 2013 season and the one teams promoted from the First Division, Grand Bodø.

The 2019 Toppserien is the 33rd season of the highest women's football league in Norway. LSK Kvinner entered the season as the defending champions.
