The Libya national football team represents Libya in men's international football and is controlled by the Libyan Football Federation. The team has never qualified for FIFA World Cup but has qualified for editions of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1982, 2006, and 2012. In 1982, the team was both the host and runner-up. In the Arab Cup, Libya finished second in 1964 and 2012, and third in 1966. The team is affiliated with both FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The 1998 Arab Cup was the seventh edition of the Arab Cup hosted by Qatar, in the city of Doha. Saudi Arabia won their first title.

The 2015 World Men's Handball Championship was the 24th staging of the World Men's Handball Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005.

The 2013 Arab Clubs Championship was the 31st edition of the Arab Clubs Championship for volleyball tournament. It was held in Beirut, Lebanon. Thirteen teams from Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia competed in 4 stages, with CS Sfaxien winning the championship.
The 2013 Men's African Volleyball Championship was the 19th edition of the Men's African Volleyball Championship, organised by Africa's governing volleyball body, the CAVB. It was held in Sousse, Tunisia from September 22 to 27, 2013.
The Tunisian Volleyball Federation (French: Fédération tunisienne de volley-ball) (FTVB) (Arabic: الجامعة التونسية للكرة الطائرة), is the governing body for Volleyball in Tunisia since 1956. The federation is a member of the Arab Volleyball Association, Mediterranean volleyball Confederation, African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The president of FTVB is Abdelmajid Jrad.
Al Ahly Volleyball Club, also called "The Masters" is one of Al Ahly SC club's sections that represent the club in Egypt and in international volleyball competitions. The club team section has been based in Cairo since 1932. Al Ahly volleyball team can be considered the greatest team in Africa and the Middle East. It has played in the Egyptian Volleyball League without interruption since 1957. Al Ahly is the most titled club in the Egyptian Volleyball league with 34 titles. Also, the team has participated in African Clubs Championship since 1980 and achieved the title 16 times.
The 2015 Men's African Volleyball Championship was played in Cairo, Egypt, from July 20 to 31, 2015. The top two teams qualified for the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup.
The 2009 Arab Youth Athletics Championships was the third edition of the international athletics competition for under-18 athletes from Arab countries. Organised by the Arab Athletic Federation, it took place in the Syrian city of Aleppo from 22 to 24 July. A total of thirty-eight events were contested, of which 20 by male and 18 by female athletes. The difference was accounted for by the lack of steeplechase and pole vault events for girls.
The 2016 African Volleyball Championship U19 was held in Kelibia, Tunisia from 8 to 10 September 2016. The champion qualified for the 2017 U19 World Championship.
The 2019 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship is the sixteenth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship, contested by the women's national teams under the age of 18 of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament was held in Egypt from 5 to 14 September 2019. Egypt were chosen as the hosts for this event for the first time.
The 2024 Girls' U18 African Nations Volleyball Championship was the 17th edition of the Girls' U18 African Nations Volleyball Championship, the biennial international youth volleyball tournament organised by the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) for the girls' under-19 national teams of Africa. It was held in Tunis, Tunisia from 5 to 8 August 2024.
