Defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2006 French Open. It was her third French Open title. She won the title without losing a set during the tournament, or without facing a tiebreak in any set.
Amélie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. It was her second major title, having won the Australian Open earlier in the year. Mauresmo also became the first Frenchwoman to win Wimbledon since Suzanne Lenglen in 1925. Henin-Hardenne was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam.
Serena Williams defeated Justine Henin in the final, 0–6, 7–5, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2007 Miami Open. She saved two championship points en route to the title, being down in the final 0-6, 4-5 15-40.
Ana Ivanovic defeated Martina Hingis in the final, 6–2, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2006 Canadian Open. At 18 years and 41 weeks of age, Ivanovic became the youngest woman to win the tournament.
Defending champion Serena Williams defeated Justine Henin in the final, 6–4, 3–6, 6–2 to win the women's singles title at the 2010 Australian Open. It was her fifth Australian Open singles title and twelfth major singles title overall, surpassing the Open Era record for the most Australian Open singles titles. This was Henin's first major since the 2008 Australian Open, following her retirement in May 2008. Henin was unseeded at a major for the first time since the 2001 Australian Open, and was awarded a wild card into the tournament.
Kim Clijsters defeated Venus Williams in the final, 6–2, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2010 Miami Open. It was her second Miami Open title.
Kim Clijsters defeated Li Na in the final, 3–6, 6–3, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2011 Australian Open. It was her first Australian Open title and her fourth major overall. Li became the first Asian player to reach a singles major final, and would go on to win the French Open a few months later.
Caroline Wozniacki was the defending champion but lost to Aravane Rezaï in the first round.

Caroline Wozniacki defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2011 Dubai Tennis Championships. Although Wozniacki had lost the world No. 1 singles ranking to Kim Clijsters the previous week, she reclaimed the spot by defeating Shahar Pe'er in the quarterfinals.

Petra Kvitová defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 7–5, 4–6, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2011 WTA Tour Championships. She was making her Tour Finals debut.
Victoria Azarenka defeated Maria Sharapova in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2012 Australian Open. It was her first major title. Azarenka became the first Belarusian to reach and win a major final, and became the world No. 1 in doing so. Caroline Wozniacki, Petra Kvitová and Maria Sharapova were also in contention for the top ranking.
Serena Williams defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 6–2, 2–6, 7–5 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2012 US Open. Azarenka served for the championship and led 5–3 in the third set. It was the first time since 1995 that the final went to three sets. With the victory, Williams became the third woman in history to win Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the US Open in the same season, after Steffi Graf and her sister Venus Williams. Williams lost only one set during the tournament, to Azarenka in the final.
