Torero Stadium is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in San Diego, California. It was built in 1961. He was the University of San Diego head basketball coach until March 2007. On April 25, 2007, he was named as one of three finalists to become the new head coach of UC Riverside's men's basketball program, but lost out to Jim Wooldridge. Holland served as an assistant coach at UC Santa Barbara during the 2008–2009 and 2009–2010 seasons.

They finished the season 16–18, 7–9 in WCC play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They advanced to the semifinials of the WCC Tournament where they lost to Saint Mary's.
