The 2011 Silk Way Rally is the 3rd running of the event. The event started in Moscow, Russia on July 10, then run through Russia to finish in Sochi on July 16. [1]

The Silk Way Rally is an annual rally raid type of off-road race. The first Silk Way Rally was raced in 2009 from Kazan, Russia to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. From 2010 to 2013, the race has taken place in Russia. The 2016 edition had a Moscow-Astana-Beijing route, the 2017 edition starts in Moscow and finishes in Xi'an, China. From 2009 to 2011, the rally was part of ASO's Dakar Series.Rally compete in three categories - moto, cars and trucks.

Moscow Capital of Russia

Moscow is the capital and most populous city of Russia, with 13.2 million residents within the city limits, 17 million within the urban area and 20 million within the metropolitan area. Moscow is one of Russia's federal cities.

From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and North Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait. However, Russia recognises two more countries that border it, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, both of which are internationally recognized as parts of Georgia.

Rally raid, also known as cross-country rallying, is a form of long distance off-road racing that takes place over several days. The length of the event can be as short as 2-3 days for a cross-country baja to as long as 15 days with marathon rallies like the Dakar Rally; with other cross-country rally events lasting 4-5 days. With skill in navigation being key, the driving skill and endurance of riders, drivers, co-drivers, and machines are put to the test. The total distance covered can be anywhere between 600km to over 5000km with terrain ranging from sandy dunes, forest roads, mountain roads, and dry river beds; among others.

The Silk Road Race is a charity rally from Milan to the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. The Silk Road Race is organised by Partenza Intelligente, a no-profit cultural association based in Lainate (Milan) Italy. The first edition of the rally was launched 31 July 2010.

Yazeed Al-Rajhi Saudi Arabian rally driver

Yazeed Al-Rajhi is a Saudi Arabian rally driver. He scored his first World Rally Championship (WRC) points with an eighth place finish on the 2012 Acropolis Rally. Al-Rajhi made his WRC debut on the 2008 Rally Argentina in a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. He retired from that event and the 2008 Jordan Rally – his other WRC appearance of the year. He returned to the top level in 2010, finishing 13th overall on the Jordan Rally in a Peugeot 207 S2000. He also contested that year's Rally d'Italia Sardegna, a round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, but he retired after losing a wheel. In 2011 he contested seven WRC rounds, but retired from six of them. He also competed in the IRC round in Corsica, finishing 14th. In 2018, he won the Silk Way Rally.

Andrey Olegovich Karginov is a Russian rally raid driver, best known for winning the 2014 Dakar Rally in the truck category for Kamaz.

The 2019 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship will be the 17th season of the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship; an international rally raid competition for motorbikes and quads.
