2012–13 Greek Ice Hockey Championship season

The 2012-13 Greek Ice Hockey Championship was contested by 11 teams, divided into Northern and Southern groups. The top two teams in each group were supposed to advance to the playoffs, which ended up being cancelled. [1] PAOK Thessaloniki HC finished first in the Northern Group and Iptameni Pagodromoi Athens won the Southern Group, and were later named overall Greek champions.

The Greek Ice hockey Championship is the only level of ice hockey in Greece. It is operated under the jurisdiction of the Hellenic Ice Sports Federation, an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. There are currently registered 100 players.

Playoffs

The two Northern Group teams who had qualified for the playoffs declined to participate. As a result, the playoffs were cancelled, and the Greek Federation declared Iptameni Pagodromoi Athens, winner of the Southern Group, Greek champion for 2013.

Hockey in Greece

Hockey, both field and ice, is not very popular in Greece. Until recently, an organized championship did not exist and only amateur tournaments were organised by few fans of the sport. The establishment of hockey federations is relatively recent as well as the organisation of Panhellenic championships. However, a form of this game was played by ancient Greeks. A marble relief of 510 B.C., on display at the Archaeological Museum of Athens, depicts athletes that play a sport like hockey. In addition, the 2nd-century BC writer Plutarch refers to a sport like hockey with the name Keretizein (Κερητίζειν).

2017–18 Basketball Champions League

The 2017–18 Basketball Champions League was the second season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), a European-wide professional basketball competition for clubs, that was launched by FIBA. The competition began on 19 September 2017, with the qualifying rounds, and concluded on 6 May 2018.
